Who We Are
The name ThousandEyes was born from two big ideas: the power to see what’s not ordinarily possible, and the ability to collect intelligence from vantage points as erse and global as the Internet. As organizations depend on cloud services, the Internet has become their defacto network connecting cloud applications to users. Our Internet and cloud intelligence platform is like a Google maps of the Internet’, providing the only collectively powered view of digital experiences end-to-end. We enable our customers made up of the world’s largest and fastest-growing brands, to identify problems before they impact revenue, brand reputation, or employee productivity.
In August 2020, Cisco Systems completed the acquisition of ThousandEyes, which now forms the ThousandEyes Business Unit within Cisco’s Network Services Business Group, and is a foundational component of Cisco’s growing Observability business.
About the Role
The UI Platform team is passionate about building common abstractions that are shared by the various ThousandEyes development teams. Our mission is to evangelize standards, patterns, and best practices for UI design and development at ThousandEyes. We support a shared Design System used by developers, designers, and product managers to maximize the ease, quality, consistency, and velocity of design and development across all ThousandEyes products. We also build new initiatives that allow a smooth onboarding experience for new customers and opportunities for them to engage more deeply with new parts of our platform. We’re experts in frontend code, implementing pixel-perfect designs, and creating the best possible developer and customer experiences with everything we touch.

- Confidence with frontend languages and best practices across JavaScript, HTML, CSS
- Comfort in fast-paced, dynamic environments and a willingness to challenge the status quo
- Understanding of how to build performant, testable, maintainable, and well-documented code

Why Cisco
#WeAreCisco, where each person is unique, but we bring our talents to work as a team and make a difference powering an inclusive future for all.
We embrace digital, and help our customers implement change in their digital businesses. Some may think we’re old (36 years strong) and only about hardware, but we’re also a software company. And a security company. We even invented an intuitive network that adapts, predicts, learns and protects. No other company can do what we do you can’t put us in a box! But Digital Transformation is an empty buzz phrase without a culture that allows for innovation, creativity, and yes, even failure (if you learn from it.)
Day to day, we focus on the give and take. We give our best, give our egos a break, and give of ourselves (because giving back is built into our DNA.) We take accountability, bold steps, and take difference to heart. Because without ersity of thought and a dedication to equality for all, there is no moving forward.
So, you have colourful hair? Don’t care. Tattoos? Show off your ink. Like polka dots? That’s cool. Pop culture geek? Many of us are. Passion for technology and world changing? Be you, with us.
We recognize that erse teams make the strongest teams, and we encourage people from all backgrounds to apply.

Aselo is an early-stage and rapidly growing social enterprise developed by Tech Matters. Developed initially in partnership with Child Helpline International, we have created and operate an open source, cloud-based contact center platform built to give crisis helplines the same powerful technology enjoyed by big corporate call centers.
The need is great: child helplines receive over 30 million calls annually yet many are only able to answer one-third of the calls they receive. 94% of their communications are still voice calls, while the vast majority of children are far more comfortable with text. During the pandemic, volumes increased by 50% or more in many countries, increasing the urgency for upgraded technology. We believe that our Aselo technology platform can greatly expand the capacity of crisis response helplines, helping them assist two or three times as many children in need with each crisis counselor. And already we’ve deployed Aselo into crisis response fields adjacent to the child helpline movement (gender-based-violence and internet hotlines dealing with online abuse), so the opportunity to grow our impact and user community is tremendous.
Tech Matters is looking to add an Associate Solutions Engineer to our growing Aselo team. We are looking for a technologist who will own and manage Aselo implementations and launches, with a particular focus on helpline training and change management strategy. You will be responsible for defining and managing customized client configurations, deployment and monitoring of new implementations, and coordinating implementation milestones with both internal and external stakeholders with varying levels of software knowledge. Aselo implementations involve working very closely with our helpline partners, and in this role you will help develop and maintain strong collaborations with our erse group of partners as we work together to understand how Aselo can improve their service capacity. You will play a significant role in expanding the use of Aselo to enable counselors around the world to deliver better and more efficient support for people in crisis, with the goal of tripling the number of people assisted worldwide to over 100 million by 2025.
In this role you will:
- Above all, contribute to the mission of Aselo where most needed with problem solving, collaborating with team members, a willingness to figure out new challenges, and a desire to make an impact.
- Manage simultaneous new helpline implementations, owning communication, preparation, and launch timelines with various client and funding stakeholders.
- Work closely with fellow solutions engineers, product managers, and software engineers to configure helpline customizations and coordinate customization deploys in line with project timelines.
- Coordinate and lead efforts to improve our Aselo training materials, facilitate helpline training sessions (virtual and/or in-person) and facilitate change management strategies for helpline staff during and after Aselo implementations.
- Design and facilitate feedback collection from current clients through different user testing methodologies to help inform product development and design gaps.
- Exemplify good project management practices: planning and scoping timelines and cross-functional team responsibilities, defining milestones and deliverables, and evaluating project success and room for improvement.
Qualifications:
- At least two years of client-facing implementation and/or operations experience. Experience in tech-for-good startups is a plus.
- Effective at working side by side with engineering, product, and client teams. Able to engage in assertive management of the wide range of stakeholders and actors involved in a new implementation. Able to negotiate a good balance between new implementation delivery and reliability maintenance for existing implementations.
- Experience with developing training content (multi-language a plus) and leading software training for non-technical users.
- Experience working with clients to navigate organizational change management challenges in adopting new software to update existing operating procedures and workflows.
- Ability to write with great simplicity and clarity, both for technical and non-technical audiences. This includes communicating requirement specifications, configuration management, and training.
- Strong verbal communication skills. Ability to manage day-to-day communication and support our helpline partners with empathy and a user-first approach.
- Enough technical ability to troubleshoot customer issues and have high-level integration conversations with engineers and external technical service providers. Basic coding ability such as writing small data analysis scripts or making API calls is a plus.
- A personal belief in the mission of Tech Matters.
The position is entirely remote, though you can expect frequent travel for in-person team events and customer visits, as long as such travel can be conducted safely. We are a remote-first, globally distributed team that spans from the U.S. West Coast to South Africa. We are looking for a candidate based in Europe/Africa time zones.
We’d be particularly delighted to hire someone who:
- Has experience with contact center solutions and telecommunications
- Has experience with software as a service implementations in the social sector
- Can speak, read, and write languages other than English
- Has a demonstrated interest in doing social impact work, shown by previous volunteer or work experience
You should apply
Our users come from all kinds of communities, and so do we. We hire great people from a wide variety of backgrounds, not just because it’s the right thing to do, but because it makes our organization stronger in delivering social impact. We encourage members of traditionally underrepresented communities to apply, including people of color, LGBTQ+ people and people with disabilities.
We know there are great candidates who might not check all of these boxes or who possess important skills we haven’t thought of. If that’s you, don’t hesitate to apply and tell us about yourself.
An important part of every application is a cover letter describing why this position and our mission particularly resonated with you.

This is why we’re on a mission to increase transparency, reduce entry barriers and enable everyone to become financially independent. We make staking easy & accessible.
Let’s cut to the chase, Staking Rewards is a close-knit team, 20 some members all working remotely, all over the world. The person we’re looking to work with
An Engineer that values quality over quantity. Has a deep understanding of software design and how to apply design principles on different types of problems. Some call them well-rounded Engineers or 10x Engineers, we simply call them good Engineers.
Good Engineers can learn and adapt. They are creative and curious at all times.
This is what we’re looking for.
You will work with familiar technologies, but you will also be expected to work with unfamiliar technologies, you will learn on the job, you will challenge yourself and the status quo. Most importantly, you will be proud of your work.
Nevertheless, we expect you have gained a good chuck of experience with different environments in your senior career so far and optimally worked in a React environment last so you can bring your A-game from day one.
Engineering at Staking Rewards

We work the problem. An Engineer at Staking Rewards is expected to inquire, communicate expectations and be open to unusual solutions. Our strength comes from our ability to deliver strong, high quality solutions in an ever changing business environment.
We keep our feedback loops short and always aim to find the best possible solution together as one Engineering team.
Where do you fit in there?
You become one of the heroes in this saga. An Engineer capable of working on different challenges and storylines.
Some of these challenges we’d like you to focus on are:
- Building high performing web experiences
- Bringing a strong defensive security mindset to our code and technical practices
- Building for others: other developers on the team, for stakeholders and our users

The Explanation Company is hiring a Principal Engineer who can also act as a Site Reliability Engineer until the day that we hire a dedicated SRE. We’re a small team so it’s important that we hire people who can play multiple roles. We’re looking for someone to bring deep experience on planning for scale, diagnosing performance issues, and site security—while still being able to contribute code, both for new features & refactoring, when appropriate. Our backend language is Ruby on Rails so we’re looking for someone with this experience, but part of scaling may be implementing key features in other languages. This is a remote role joining a fully remote team.
We’re building an internet app for children that enables them to video call their friends and search the web. There are a billion children in the world who now have an internet device and the existing communication & browser apps don’t work well for kids. This is an opportunity to scale a new video calling app from the ground up with an experienced team who knows how to build amazing products. You’ll be joining at the fun moment where our product is getting traction with users and we’ve started to experience growing pains as things scale up.
About The Work
In this role, you’ll be working alongside three other senior engineers building a mobile app in React Native with a heavy server component (in Rails). All three engineers have deep experience as full stack product engineers, working across web and mobile development. Our engineers have well organized code, a solid continuous integration pipeline, and are mindful about slow queries and excessive API calls. You are not stepping into a mess that needs cleaning up. Instead, we’re looking to add someone to the team who can help with the next layer of performance optimization and reliability. In this role you’ll take the lead on diagnosing contention issues within the database, optimizing HTTP request routing to avoid request queuing, and figuring out a failover strategy to avoid downtime when an availability zone goes down.
A big part of your job is considering and mitigating all the things that could go wrong before they do, so that our system operations remains as boring as possible. We know that making it so that systems just run is challenging work that can benefit from deep experience in the domain.
Part of the work includes being available for on-call duty, for those times when something we didn’t anticipate happens. With good planning, it will be rare that you’re woken up in the middle of the night. But the peak usage of our product is on evenings and weekends, so when we do have issues they usually occur during these hours. For this role it’s important that your work hours can flex depending on what we have going on and that you can often keep an eye on things, even when off work. This is not a good role for someone who needs highly regular hours and wants to fully unplug when off work. We’ll be working to stay one step ahead, but if things go well, there will be busy times.
To give you a clearer picture of what the job could entail, our server backend is an API-only Ruby app using Rails. Our frontend is React Native using Typescript and the Expo library. We’re currently hosted on Heroku with Postgres and Redis. We use Docker for key systems such as our GitHub Actions CI pipeline.
Here are real examples of work we’re prioritizing in the near future:
- Dig into NewRelic (or your preferred tool) to come up with a plan for keeping 95% of API calls under 500 ms and 99% of our API calls under 1 second. Also, develop a good understanding of the outliers and why they occur.
- Figure out why some some of our queries occasionally take a surprisingly long time to return, even though they’re fast 99% of the time and we’ve covered all the basics (e.g. SQL EXPLAIN to confirm indexes, confirm indexes are loaded in ram, and no table locks).
- Evaluate the capability of our video calling and texting API providers to confirm they can meet our capacity needs, reliability goals, and that we start including them in our capacity planning.
- Develop a plan for spreading our traffic across multiple regions such as considering a master-master Postgresql setup.
- Deciding when we should move to an on-prem servers that we control to avoid some of the complexity of building in the cloud.
- Refactor our mobile push notifications to include payload data in order to reduce API calls we make to our server. Currently, we send a push notification to a user, they open our app and we query our server to retrieve data. This is an example of a task which would touch backend Rails, front-end React Native code to receive the push payload and proactively update a front-end data store.
- Architect and implement an internal library for sending lots of SMS messages. We will need to send periodic blasts to a large number of people. This would be implemented in Rails, most likely on top of Sidekiq for queuing and Postgresql for message history. We also need an internal interface for other parts of the application to send & enable replies to one-off SMS as an interactive experience. For example, kids might take an action in the app, we text their parents to say, "Jonny wants to do video call X, please reply Yes if this okay?"
About You
You’re someone who has been doing this work for awhile. You’ve had years of your career where you were focused on programming, doing all aspects of bringing a new product to life. You are experienced with the Rails framework, with Ruby, and with the layers of full-stack web development: HTTP, HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. You also have a lot of experience with a couple data stores. We use Postgresql and Redis, but it’s okay if your experience is with different ones. You’re someone who is good at ramping up with a new tool.
You’ve also had years of your career where you were primarily focused on scaling systems and figuring out how to work around old architecture decisions that are hard to undo. You’ve done basic load testing and security audits—and know when to bring in more experienced people. You’re comfortable setting up a dedicated server from scratch and managing it in a production environment.
You’re comfortable with remote work since this is a remote role. Our full team of six-people are spread across 4 timezones in the United States and Canada. To make sure time zones overlap with our team, we’re looking to hire someone based in the continental US or Canada.
You’re someone who is a strong communicator. You are good at talking through problems verbally with teammates, explaining a complex idea. And you’re also a clear and concise writer, both in long-form proposals and in code.
The Company
At The Explanation Company, we are setting out to tackle a big challenge: we’re building out the missing internet tools for children. As a grown-up, it’s easy to take for granted that whenever you wonder something or want to ask a friend a question, you pull out your phone and have an answer in seconds. Children who are 10 years old and younger have been left behind by this and we are going to fix this. We’re making it possible for children to independently look up anything they're curious about and to independently communicate with friends.
We're a well-funded startup backed by one of the best investment funds so we have the runway to pull this off, but we're early in building the team and shaping our culture.
Our culture is fast paced, focused on getting things done. We make big plans, identify the core assumptions in those plans, and take small steps quickly to try and validate those assumptions. The amount of work we need to get done with the small team we have is a little nuts, so we have to find clever shortcuts to pull this off. If you're looking for work-life balance, this isn't the place. At this early stage you'll have a big scope of responsibility, but it also means that things will come up at odd hours and you'll be the go-to person for those.
Our culture is one where the fun of the work comes from solving hard problems with amazingly talented colleagues. If your core motivation is to "work on something that's good for the world", this is not the place for that. That's not our lens so it would be better to find an education or healthcare startup. We are a proud for-profit company, although with a very-long term mindset. Our goal is to reach as many children as we can, while generating a healthy revenue in the process and building a great business, as our means to maximize impact.
You can expect to find teammates who trust you and support you, so you can do your best work. You’ll be given a high degree of autonomy and be expected to figure things out, both when focused on long-term projects and when ad hoc requests come up.
As a team, we are eager to learn about things we don’t understand. We challenge each other's ideas, but we do so respectfully. We have a bias for action, so we’re quick to try an idea rather than spend too much time debating it in the abstract. We appreciate people who have strong opinions and share those, but we also commit to moving forward after a decision is made even if everyone does not agree. As a company, we avoid having political conversations internally and do not weigh in on politics publicly, unless directly related to our business. We’re looking for teammates who are here to do great work on building great products for kids, and who reserve advocating for societal change for outside of the workplace.

The Venafi platform provides visibility, intelligence, and automation for SSL/TLS, IoT, mobile, cloud native, Kubernetes, and SSH machine identity types. Many of the largest organizations in the world use Venafi. Billions of dollars have been spent protecting usernames and passwords and almost nothing managing machine identities—organizations are just now realizing that managing and protecting machine identities is as important as managing usernames and passwords. The bad guys know this and are using stolen or forged machine identities in their cyberattacks. In fact, Gartner says 50% of network attacks will use machine identities.
