About the Home Care Team

Thumbtack recently launched a new customer experience to help homeowners care for their home through personalized guidance, planning tools to avoid procrastination and a seamless way to rebook your favorite pros. This role is focused on helping homeowners go from just hiring a pro when things go wrong to introducing them to being proactive creating a plan for caring for their home.

Challenge

We have technical problems ranging from mobile experiences and performances, high scale backend systems, and to machine learning optimization algorithms. Many of the experiences that we build in our apps are to onboard, engage, and convert our users which requires consistent A/B tests in relation to their experiences. Our challenges are pretty open ended, and we move real fast!

Responsibilities

• Drive engineering projects to completion, with a tenacious focus on the business impact of those projects. Skilled at prioritizing tasks to deliver on goals with a sense of urgency.
• Execute new ideas quickly and effectively on the backend while also being a resource to other teams and engineers.
• Collaborate with applied scientists to connect and implement complex machine learning algorithms to our backend systems to support our growing customer base.
• Build exciting new product experiences by partnering with mobile engineers to solve customer facing problems.
• Willing, when necessary, to solve tough technical problems at any level of the stack, and be persistent in getting to the solution.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams such as Product and Design to plan and execute on engineering projects.

What youll need

• Minimum of 3+ years of industry experience in engineering
• Fluent in at least one major programming language and would be able to switch between multiple languages. In our stack. We mainly use Go, Python, Php, with Swift, Kotlin and Java for our mobile apps.
• Solid experience building software on top of relational databases such as Postgres or MySQL.
• Write high quality, maintainable, testable code, and you enjoy doing it.
• Curious, data-driven, and a critical problem solver. Break down complex problems rigorously and understand the tradeoffs necessary to deliver great, impactful products.

Bonus points if you have

• Experience using AWS and/or GCP and its suite of technologies such as DynamoDB

Compensation – At Human Interest, there are a number of factors that are used to determine the appropriate pay range for each position. We take into account the cost of labor for each position in various markets across the US. The base salary for this position spans $190,000 – $210,000 and represents the minimum in our lowest geographic region to a maximum in our highest geographic region. Reporting to the Director of Software Development for the Utility Virtual Power Plant (VPP) API, this role will be responsible for building and maintaining Renew Homes B2B service, serving our energy partners. You will provide highly-available, highly-scalable, secure access to enrolled consumer IoT appliances, associated telemetry, and other reporting data in support of energy services for our partners. You will work closely with product design and management, sales, and other engineering teams to directly impact our revenue.

What You Will Do

• Design, implement, and maintain Renew Homes API, connecting hundreds of energy service and utility partners to millions of consumer IoT devices and appliances.
• Write code across our stack (AWS, GCP, Python, Postgres, Nx)
• Establish, monitor, enforce and meet KPIs and SLOs measuring the operational health of the energy partner service
• Create and update API documentation to support energy partner onboarding and services
• Work directly with energy partners as necessary to onboard or resolve technical challenges in integrating with the API
• Participate in our agile development process: regular team updates, standup meetings, 1-on-1s, and peer code reviews.

Requirements

• 4+ years professional, day-to-day experience building backend software services
• Bachelors/Masters degree in computer science or equivalent experience in the software industry
• Experience building and maintaining B2B APIs, including working knowledge of tools and libraries in the ecosystem

The Role

We are looking to onboard an accountable SRE to join our DevOps and SRE team with focus on operating Ethereum validator systems and Eigenlayer AVSs (Actively Validated Services) for restaking solutions. You will be part of the Nethermind team accountable for managing Nethermind Node Operator services and duties. You will be responsible for deploying, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Ethereum validators on the blockchain network, as well as other production systems. You will work remotely to cover a different timezone and collaborate closely with the team to ensure smooth operations, automate tasks, document processes, and continuously improve the system.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for monitoring and maintaining production systems including Ethereum validators and Blockchain nodes, AVSs, and other applications. This involves setting up monitoring tools, troubleshooting issues, performing regular maintenance tasks to ensure optimal performance, and implementing custom tooling if required.
• In the event of an incident or outage, the SRE will be responsible for quickly identifying the root cause of the issue and implementing a fix to restore service. This may require working outside of normal business hours to respond to incidents in a timely manner.
• Work intensively with Container Orchestration technologies and constantly optimizing infrastructure costs.
• Responsible for documenting processes, procedures, post-incident reports, and best practices related to running our services in production. This documentation will help ensure consistency and quality across the team, and will also serve as a reference for future team members.
• Collaborate closely with other members of the team to ensure that all production services are running smoothly and that any issues are addressed quickly especially Ethereum validators. This may include participating in on-call rotations, attending team meetings, and working on cross-functional projects with other teams.
• Responsible for automating as many tasks as possible in order to reduce the amount of manual work required to manage infrastructures. This includes scripting, developing tools, and setting up automation using Terraform and CI/CD to streamline processes.
• Responsible for continuously improving the processes, procedures, and tools used to manage blockchain nodes and validators. This includes identifying areas for improvement, implementing changes, and measuring the impact of those changes to ensure they are effective.
• Responsible for evaluating the business needs and producing various designs to achieve the assigned projects.
• Provide systems expertise and drive operational best practices. Responsible for setting up and maintaining performance system monitoring.

In this role, we need you to have experience in (you should have):

• IAC experience running on any cloud platform, preferably on AWS and GCP.
• Proficiency in Linux operating system and command-line tools.
• Skills in programming languages such as Python, Golang, or Bash.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks, preferably ArgoCD.

Your Role

As an Android Developer, you will join our seven-person Android team to help build the Android clients for Todoist and Twist. Were continuously improving and evolving all aspects of our apps, so youll be closely working on new features, architectural improvements, maintenance and so on. • Contribute to the development and scaling of Flashbots products, specifically SUAVE and SUAPPS.
• Collaborate with the best mechanism design researchers in the industry to build products at the intersection of incentives and distributed systems.
• Maintain and enhance protocol services and developer tools within the Flashbots ecosystem.
• Write and manage technical documentation and diagrams for public and internal use.
• Participate actively in community and partner with leading crypto projects.
• Write well-tested code.

Who You Are:

• 4-10 years of experience in production systems, skilled in Rust or Go.
• Proven experience in distributed systems
• You find problems to solve, rather than waiting for issues to pile up.
• Strong OSS blockchain projects/contributions in Ethereum projects
