An overview of this role

We’re currently looking for an intermediate-level Frontend Engineer for our Source Code FE team. The Source Code FE team is focused on GitLab’s suite of tools around Source Code Management. We interface with Code Review team often as well as the wider Frontend teams in shared initiatives. We work very closely with stable counterparts including the Source Code backend team, product management, product design, testing, security, UX research and technical writing.

The Source Code team is focused on building and supporting all use cases related to interacting with the code stored in each project repository. Whether it’s a quick consultation of a commit or a deep analysis of the history of changes to any given file, our team is tasked with building and supporting features that enable a great experience.

Source Code is one of the oldest and most complex parts of the GitLab application. We leverage information provided by the backend (who interfaces with the Git repositories via Gitaly) to surface all the necessary information to the user via the web browser. We see this as an essential part of collaborating since it’s the way to quickly extract information and share it across peers when collaborating or discussing a specific part of the codebase. A large portion of GitLab traffic, whether on gitlab.com or in private instances, happens through Source Code pages, and we are focused on providing a great and performant experience through performance tuning, optimizing data loading and display, including dynamic and interactive web applications.

What You’ll Do

• Develop features and improvements to the GitLab product in a secure, well-tested, and performant way
• You’ll work with Product Management and other stakeholders (Backend, UX, etc.) to iterate on new features within the GitLab product.

About the team

You’ll be joining a team of 2 frontend engineers located in EMEA and collaborate closely with 3 other frontend engineers in the sibling team of Create:Code Review Frontend (same manager). You will join our growing Planning Team, where we design, implement, test, and deploy the Engine that defines the behaviour and motion of Oxa’s Autonomous Vehicles (AVs), based on our understanding of the environment.

Your Role

As a Staff Engineer in Trajectory Planning, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, testing, and deploying the trajectory planning software that generates the trajectories for the AV. Specifically, this role will focus on building a robust and efficient trajectory generation approach to achieve the desired AV maneuvers in a comfortable, human-like, and safe manner for different on-road and off-road applications. You will work closely with other teams in a highly cross-functional development environment.

• Lead the development, integration, and deployment of trajectory planning software that robustly and efficiently generates AV trajectories, including off-the-shelf solver evaluation and custom solver implementation.

Salary

The starting salary for this role is between $140,000 – $170,000, depending on skills and experience. The Senior Engineering Manager for the Creators & Economy is a critical leadership role at VRChat. This person is accountable for the technical direction for the Creator and Economy teams which own critical strategic functions across all VRChat platforms.

Proficient on modern frontend technology stack (HTML5, Typescript, CSS)

Comfortable coding custom JavaScript solutions as well as utilising existing frameworks

Expert knowledge of building high performing and available websites and how to apply page performance optimisation techniques

Adept at building and maintaining cross browser/device compatible sites

Exposure or appreciation of agile development practices

Passionate about user experience

Comfortable working and maintaining a CI/CD environment.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Strong problem solving and analytical skills

Excellent understanding of the coding standards required for high volume websites from a security and performance perspective

Experience of working with large e-commerce websites and their underlying databases.

Bonus points AWS knowledge and proficiency
