🔭Who are we looking for?
We're looking for an experienced full-stack engineer. You should feel comfortable working with a modern battle-tested backend stack (Laravel, Redis, MySQL, and others), as well as have a solid understanding of front-end technologies (Vue.js, Inertia.js, or alternatives like React / Angular).
You should be seeking quality first, be committed, and understand the importance of having testable code. Bonus points for already being good at DevOps (Linux, Docker, CircleCI, Digital Ocean, AWS, etc.).
If you are curious, you can already check out our (mostly) full technology stack here.
We love trying new stuff and often introduce exciting shiny cutting-edge technologies! You should be eager to learn and improve, not only as a developer but also as a person. If you are aspiring to expand your horizon, learn, and grow we can definitely help you with that!
Last but not least - you need to be a good communicator. We're a small team working remotely, so excellent communication is a key to success. We love hearing opinions and suggestions! In our company your opinion matters and you will have a significant impact on the direction of the project, both on the technology and business levels.
Apply now & join us on our company retreat to 🇬🇷 Greece in October 2023!
🌍 Who are we?
Megaverse is an early-stage startup company, focused on creating software for the entertainment industry. We are 100% remote with people across many time zones. We are bootstrapped & profitable.
🧠Your Mindset
- Self-improvement: You want to grow your skills and grow as a person. You seek ways to do things more efficiently.
- Problem-solving attitude: Problems are opportunities. You see problems as challenging and have the urge to solve them. There is no problem in the world you cannot solve!
- Proactive attitude: It's not easy to work remotely. If you are having issues we expect you to be proactive about it and speak up.
- Independent: Since we are 100% remote this means that you need to be able to reach your goals independently. It would be best if you were self-aware and self-managed.
- Quality first: You value quality code! If you find yourself writing things twice you automatically refactor them. You find code reviews valuable (an opportunity to learn) instead of annoying.

Title: Software Engineer, Frontend
Location: Los Angeles, CA or Remote
About Atticus
At any given time, 16 million Americans are experiencing a crisis that requires urgent help from our legal system or government. The right assistance could transform their lives. But today, most never get it.
Atticus makes it easy for any person in crisis to get the life-changing aid they deserve. In just three years, we’ve become the leading platform connecting people with disabilities to government benefits. We also help victims of accidents, misconduct, and violence get compensation from insurance. So far, we’ve gotten thousands of people access to over $2B in life-changing aid, and we’re just getting started.
We’ve helped more than 20,000 people in need (see our 6,000+ five-star reviews) and raised more than $50 million from top VC firms like Forerunner, GV (Google Ventures), and True Ventures. (We just closed our Series B round in May 2023, so we’re well-funded for the foreseeable future.) We’re small but moving fast our team grew from 32 to 60 last year and we expect to double in size again in 2023.
The Job
Atticus works in an industry dominated by outdated technology that is ripe for fresh thinking: our core competitors rely on massive call centers to screen clients, antiquated CRMs to track and manage cases, and paper checks to get paid (provided they’re sent to the right address).
Conversely, as a VC-backed tech company our product & engineering department powers everything we do: from creating an engaging online experience for people in crisis to providing tools for our network lawyers as they serve our clients, Atticus relies on technology to fulfill our mission.
We’re looking for Software Engineers to join our team. You’ll work on the front-end, and will partner with every department at Atticus as we continue to grow our platform to help people in need find trusted legal support.
What You’ll Do:
- Design, build and operate Atticus’ front-end applications written in React with a focus on performance, modularity, extensibility, and reliability.
- Work with product and software architects to plan and deliver features, fixes, and performance enhancements
- Leverage your peers as multipliers for your skills to create excellent products and services.
The role is a rare opportunity to join a fast-growing Series B startup that doubles as a B-corp social enterprise. Every project you take on will help clients in need get the help they deserve, and you’ll shape our company culture as we scale. We’re looking for engineers who are excited about our mission and the challenges it entails.
Who You Are:
- You write idiomatic JavaScript/Node.js; Golang, Java, Python, Scala, or Ruby is helpful.
- You have experience and love for building React applications
- You speak CSS and HTML
- You enjoy working with UI and UX experts to build compelling user experiences
- You use a modern version-control system for your source code repository (Git, Mercurial, GitHub, BitBucket).
- You lint all your code or know you should.
- You know what parts of your code require tests and you write those tests.
- You are versed in cloud computing systems (GCP, AWS, etc.) and SAAS concepts.
Extra Credit:
- You like working or want to work with Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, Docker, Git, Golang, Java
- You are well versed in working with or want to work with GraphQL, GraphQL Federation, REST APIs and supporting network protocols
- You can read or build a Webpack configuration
We are strongly committed to building a erse team. If you’re from a background that’s underrepresented in tech, we’d love to meet you!
Benefits
This is a rare opportunity to join a startup that has strong traction (substantial funding, well-respected backers, tremendous growth, and many happy customers) but is still small enough that you can have a huge impact and play a role in shaping our culture.
We’re a certified B Corporation tackling a critical social problem. Our mission to help people in need drives everything we do, and your work here will touch many lives.
We offer competitive pay including equity and generous benefits:
- Medical and dental insurance with 100% of employee premiums covered
- 15 vacation days & ~19 paid holidays each year (including two weeks at end-of-year)
- Free memberships to ClassPass and OneMedical
- $1,000 reimbursable stipend for education and training outside of work
- Student loan repayment assistance, 401(k), and optional HSA
- Free snacks, drinks, weekly lunches, and regular team dinners/events/retreats
- Humble, thoughtful, smart, fun colleagues
Location & Covid
Today, about half our team are in Los Angeles or Phoenix (where we have offices) and half are fully remote and spread across the U.S. There are two options for this job:
- Live in Los Angeles, work a few days a week (or more) out of our beautiful office in the Arts District.
- Live wherever, work remotely, and travel to LA (on the company dime) as needed to be with your colleagues somewhere between monthly and quarterly.
In short: You can do this job well remotely, and we’re committed to empowering everyone with flexibility. But we care a lot about building a great culture and we think some interactions need to happen in person, so we put a lot of thought into retreats, offsites, and other ways to gather.
As for Covid: When the pandemic started, we immediately shifted to fully remote to protect our team and shuttered our office. Today, everyone on the team is vaccinated, and many come in often (though we don’t require it). Going forward, you can expect that vaccinations will be required for all employees (unless medically unable) and that if a variant emerges that makes in-person work unsafe for vaccinated people, we’ll close our office, cease any travel, and do whatever it takes to protect and support our team.
Who we’re looking for
At Greyfinch we have a positive, erse, and supportive culture. Join us if:
- You’re a proactive team player. You’re smart, humble, hardworking and, above all, collaborative. You reach out when you’re stuck and are proactive in moving on to the next thing.
- You embrace automation. You’re a highly-skilled, independent engineer that supports our technical vision of simplification, inclusion, and automation in software development. Our operational focus is on the speed of change and automation.
- You’re constantly learning. You’re curious and like to stay on top of technology trends, experimenting with different tools, languages, and frameworks.
- You’re autonomous. You are comfortable with making decisions and working towards objectives.
Why you may want to join us
- You care about what you work on. You don’t want to work on yet another advertising platform, instead, you want your work to have a positive impact on people’s lives.
- You work on the system as a whole. Our tech blurred the line between frontend, backend, and ops. It helps us focus and work on what matters most. We have time to think solutions through and iterate on them.
- You love product work. A few challenges ahead of us are building: an experimental, privacy-first patient experience; an administrative portal and dashboard, integrated with third-party vendors and providers; internal tooling for healthcare providers; and understanding how products are used through data and analytics.
- You move fast. Our tech changes with us. We want to: create scalable, dependable, and innovative software products our clients will love; automate the development and testing processes; support the business with the discovery and assessment of different technologies; we will be ing into ML at some point; contribute to the open-source projects that we actively use.Why you might *not* want to join us
- You want fully-fledged specs. We are not looking for someone waiting for tickets to move them between the columns.
- You want to clock in and clock out. Our team is distributed across continents. We work towards objectives instead of hours in the day.
- You’re fixed in a tech stack. We need a team player, an open-minded, proactive, and accountable inidual with strong communication skills. We all face challenges and the team is there to support each other and ensure the success of everything we do.
- You don’t want change. What you do today when you join us will probably be different from what you do in a year’s time. We’re a small, rapidly growing, team and change is bound to happen.
Our tech stack
Technology is a means to an end for us. We automate a lot and choose our stack to help us maximize our outcomes and make our work more impactful.
- React. The base of our frontend is React and React Native with Expo. We use a state-machine-based UI/UX layer to simplify our frontend that compiles to React.
- Hasura. Node.js. For our data layer, we rely on Hasura (https://hasura.io), which automates GraphQL on top of PostgreSQL and orchestrates our custom logic, which is generally serverless Node.js functions.
- Java. A part of our software is built on Java using Spring and Vaadin and we’re actively migrating away from it. Being able to read Java would be a plus.
- AWS. Our infrastructure is hosted in AWS and it’s described through Terraform. We use lambdas, Fargate, S3, and Cloudwatch to name a few services.
It's ok if you don't know some of that tech. If you're open-minded and enthusiastic, we’ll get through it together!
Our team is
- Dynamic and autonomous. We work towards objectives with overall guidelines without micromanagement.
- Helpful. Teammates are there for each other. There’s no gatekeeping and anyone can work on any part of the stack.
- Diverse. We all come from different backgrounds and parts of the world.
- Thoughtful. We care about the things we make and enjoy intellectually challenging work. We’re constantly learning.
- Focused. We’re focused on the product as a whole and automate things to ease our day to day work.
Terms of employment
- Full-time. This is a full-time equivalent position.
- Remote. We are a remote-first company, our compensation is irrespective of your location.
- Time off. We only ask for 160 hours of work per month, which gives you additional time in your schedule that might otherwise be used as PTO, holidays, etc.
- Additional perks include learning and hardware budgets, and team gatherings.
The status of this position may be a contract or direct with Greyfinch, depending on your location and circumstances. Let’s talk about it!
Reach out to us!
Our interviewing process typically consists of two steps:
- A 20 to 30-minute introductory call to see if we’re a good fit for each other.
- A 30 to 60-minute screen sharing session where we discuss a project you built or contributed to. If you don’t have anything public you can showcase, we can provide you with a simple take-home exercise to code to base the conversation on.
If all of that sounds interesting and you’re up for a chat, email me at [email protected].
Thanks,
Darío, CTO

__Bright is a venture-backed startup building the solar operating system to power every home and business across the world_._ Our platform allows home, and business owners to easily adopt solar with no initial investment. In doing so, we’re enabling rapid solar adoption and pioneering a sustainable energy future.
We're looking for someone interested in having an impact far beyond pixels on a screen, or rows in a database. We believe global warming is one of the most important challenges in our lifetime, and Bright provides a unique opportunity for you to use engineering skills to make a serious impact. The process for homeowners to adopt solar power is unnecessarily complicated, and the industry, especially internationally, is young.

We’ve operated lean and this is a one-of-a-kind role for someone who wants to be early but is looking for a low-risk opportunity that will certainly have an impact on the world.
Today, Bright is installing 5 solar installations every day all across Mexico with software acting as a coordinator for all the parties involved. Similar to Airbnb, Uber, or OpenDoor - software is our core strategy - and we apply it to almost every team - from logistics, to finance, and customer success. With projects ranging from marketing chatbots, to solar monitoring (IoT) integrations, to logistics optimization - there is never a dull moment.
We’re looking for someone who:
1. Has 5+ years of professional frontend experience. You’ve led development in large projects, and have built stuff from the ground up.
2. Has professional experience with React and React hooks.3. Has the ability to create good enough user experiences without having a UX designer available.4. Has fluency in technical English (Spanish is a bonus).5. Is pragmatic, can prioritize, and say no when needed.6. Has prior startup experience, and ideally, product intuition.7. Is comfortable communicating and working with non-engineers (we work with almost every team at Bright in some capacity - from interns up to the CEO).Nice to have experience with the following tools/technologies:

1. Node.js (Typescript) as REST and GraphQL server
2. Go for special-purpose tasks3. PostgreSQL + PostGIS4. EC2, S3, and SQS on AWS5. RedisYour tasks and responsibilities will be:
1. Spearhead building new capabilities and evolving our current ones for various web platforms: (customers, local solar partners, operations).
2. Own buildout of our marketing site (Gatsby + Strapi).3. Create digital experiences for many different user roles. For example “your technician is arriving” with views for customers, third-party technicians, and the internal Bright operations team.4. 1. Ability to work from anywhere within a 3-hour time difference from CST.

We aim to optimise their workflow in such a way that accountants can spend more time on the much more impactful and rewarding work of advising their customers, the business owners.
The good news is we’re succeeding in doing exactly that. Every week more than 15.000 financial service professionals use Silverfin to help and advise more than 400.000 businesses. Our customers adore us! The even better news is there’s still plenty left to work on, and that’s where we hope you come in.
What does working at Silverfin look like?
The Silverfin engineering team consists of two main types of teams. A product team is a cross-functional team where engineers work together closely with product managers and product designers. The team's input comes from users or from a business problem that it can solve with a high degree of autonomy. Product teams are supported by a handful of platform teams that focus on the application's architecture and stability, while providing internal tooling and APIs.
Our ops team ensures things run smoothly, deploys happen correctly, and will work with you when issues should arise. We’re enthusiastic followers of the devops mindset, which means ops and developers work together to solve problems, and empower each-other to be self-sufficient, instead of throwing problems over the wall to the “other side”.
We run an up-to-date Rails monolith on the backend, with PostgreSQL and Redis for persistence and caching, and everything is running on a Kubernetes cluster in Google Cloud. Our daily tools include GitLab, Quip and Slack, with Zoom as our remote conferencing tool of choice.
No code gets deployed without a code-review by a peer and testing is a must. Our pipeline automates deployment when the suite is green, and deploys happen dozens of times a day. Each team is currently doing Kanban, but they’re free to follow whatever process suits them best. There are regular retros held to work towards continuous improvement.
Software for accountants is not considered to be very exciting, but we have our fair share of technical challenges. To give you a sense of scale: our database exceeds 10TB*, and our largest table has crossed the 10 billion row mark a long while back. We interface with more than 30 different external APIs, and provide third parties an API of our own.
*: Our ops team noted that this actually isn’t that hard to achieve if you’re just indexing everything, but it still sounds impressive, right?
What makes the engineering team at Silverfin special?
We’re a remote-first engineering team of 35 people distributed in 14 different countries over two continents. A priority for us is maintaining proper work-life balance. We avoid meetings as much as possible, accept deadlines only when absolutely necessary, and never expect anyone to work longer hours than they’ve signed up for. A day in our working lives is pretty boring, and we feel that’s exactly how it should be.
Working with us means you can be flexible with your schedule. It’s OK to disappear for a few hours in the middle of the day to run some errands, get a haircut, pick up the kids - whatever reason, you don’t need to explain yourself. You also fully decide when you take time off: our team is sufficiently varied and well organised that there are always enough people around to handle the load, and in the rare cases it’s not, we will decrease the load instead of asking people to move their holiday.
Being remote-first means we favour asynchronous communication. We don’t shy away from chatting in Slack, but the important decisions or discussions are done in Gitlab issues, over email, or in Quip, so there’s a written, persisted record. We’re mindful of maintaining long chunks of focussed time, which means we avoid @-mentions or PMs on Slack, and other triggers and interrupts. We encourage using Slack’s DnD function, especially when you’re not working!
We’d be really happy to welcome you in our #engineering channel, but it’s not just virtual: we make sure we regularly get to see each other in real life too. Twice a year we fly the whole engineering team together to a different location in Europe, and at least once a year we join up with the rest of the company so we can spend some time together with the other departments.
What does your future look like?
Personal growth is key to staying motivated. Our team of experienced engineers is there to mentor you and help you hone your craft and improve as an engineer. You will have a chance to get to know and work with a state-of-the-art software development workflow on a real life Rails app at a large scale..
It's also good to know that later on at Silverfin you don’t need to move to management in order to advance. We see the inidual contributor track and the management track as two different growth paths which every engineer can follow and switch between. You can be promoted, including pay raises, as a contributor or as a manager.
Everyone gets a €1000 yearly budget to spend on conferences, courses, workshops or other training to improve their skills and level up. This also includes accommodation and travel costs. If the conference is on a workday you’ll get paid like any normal day.
Requirements
You have at least 2 years of experience working with Ruby, or 1 year of experience with Ruby and 3 years in one or more other programming languages
Your work hours have some overlap with EU business hours (we require your local timezone to be within CET +/- 3h)
You can communicate clearly in English, both in writing and verbally
Nice to haves
These would be nice but are definitely not necessary. Don’t worry if none of the following applies to you.
Experience as a remote worker in a fully remote team
Experience working with large datasets and the problems they bring
You have some experience using Javascript framework(s), understand the value of them, but also know when plain Javascript is enough
Experience in Fintech
Accounting knowledge

Ginkgo Bioworks is a publicly traded (NYSE: $DNA), high-growth biotechnology company based in Boston’s Seaport District, that is redesigning the living world to solve some of the globe’s growing challenges in health, energy, food, material, and more. Our mission to “make biology easier to engineer” is poised to disrupt multiple industries by leveraging our innovative data, automation, and scale capabilities in biological engineering.
Ginkgo believes that if we are to grow a thriving, sustainable bioeconomy, we must also grow a new market in biosecurity. Our biosecurity and public health initiative, Concentric by Ginkgo, launched a nationwide emergency response to the COVID-19 pandemic, providing end-to-end pathogen monitoring services to schools, communities, and travelers. As we continue to scale Concentric, our work is also evolving into new and exciting directions, from global expansion to the integration of new technologies and capabilities, including our Traveler-Based Genomic Surveillance Plan with the CDC.
To help facilitate this initiative we’re looking for a talented Software Engineer to join our team. With your expertise, you’ll help to build our Concentric platform to deliver insights gathered from testing programs across a wide variety of pathogens and test modalities and a growing lab network. You’ll collaborate with a team of talented and erse engineers, product managers, designers, experts in data analysis, and, of course, our customers. This is your chance to not only develop algorithms and frameworks at the cutting edge of software technologies, but also work side-by-side with the brightest scientists, engineers, and more.
Our tech stack includes AWS, Aptible, Docker, Flask, Kubernetes, Postgres, and other modern tools and frameworks. Our languages of choice are Python and Javascript. While we don't expect you to be an expert in every platform, we do expect that you have a solid foundation in computer science and be able to master the technologies that we use today (and will adopt tomorrow). Additionally, even if you don’t have a background in biology, you must be passionate about Concentric’s goal of being the premier partner for data gathering and insight generation to organizations like the CDC around the world.
Responsibilities
* Design and implement software solutions that address the current needs of Concentric’s customers, partners, and internal stakeholders. These solutions could be a microservice, standalone tool, user-facing web application, data pipeline, etc.
* Collaborate with your tech lead and product manager to define milestones and deliverables.* Work as a member of an agile team, attend scrum meetings, and review code produced by your peers.* Write automated tests for your solution and oversee its deployment.* Monitor the production environment to detect and address customers' issues.* Prototype new ideas, algorithms, and frameworks.Minimum Requirements
* BS in related field
* Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience* Proven track record in full-stack development* Experience with building distributed systems* Experience with code management systems, CI/CD, AWS, or any other cloud experience a plusPreferred Capabilities and Experience
* Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple, concurrent responsibilities
* Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment* Eagerness to support Concentric’s goals, with a strong drive to help our initiative succeed",
We start with the cliff notes about the position. If this appeals to you, continue reading for a longer text about working at Silverfin and your role 👇
At Silverfin, we're an equal opportunity employer and value ersity at our company. Although we know we’re not perfect yet, we are working hard on it and always open for your feedback.
According to our vision to build a erse, equitable and inclusive organisation, our policy is to only make a final hiring decision if underrepresented groups are sufficiently represented in the list of candidates applying for the position. For this reason it’s possible interviews get slightly delayed until we’ve reached that goal.
We're committed to elevating talent by creating an environment where we can all thrive together. So if you think you have what it takes, but don't necessarily check every single box, please consider applying. We'd love to hear how you might contribute to our mission and our team.
What can we offer you?
Actual, proper work-life balance
A salary range of €93.000 - €123.000 a year
Employee Stock Option Plan
Flexible working hours and work 100% remotely
Personal growth training and opportunities
Join a distributed remote-first engineering team with 35 colleagues in 14 different countries
A refreshing work environment with professional, friendly and welcoming colleagues
A €1000 yearly budget for conferences, courses, workshops or other expenses that will improve your skills
Two engineering retreats per year, somewhere in Europe
For the third year in a row, we offer monthly company-wide Wellbeing Days for all employees (once a month in 2023, except in July and August)
What will you work on?
Building and maintaining integrations with accountancy software packages and APIs
Improving and expanding our on-premise Ruby client which runs on thousands of our customer’s systems
Designing and building features to make the lives of our system administrators easier, such as an auto-updater and continuous deployment.
What are we looking for?
You’re experienced in both Ruby and Rails, and also understand where the boundaries lie between them. You can code in Ruby without any of Rails’ training wheels if necessary.
You’re up for mentoring coworkers and can give in-depth, productive feedback during code reviews. While you appreciate the small stuff, you recognise bike-shedding and can avoid its pitfalls.
You enjoy integrating with APIs and aren’t easily dissuaded when encountering unreliable or poorly documented systems.
You code with reason and can justify the important decisions you made during development.
You can communicate clearly in English, both in writing and verbally.
You know and can apply best practices when relevant. That means the usual like version control, testing, and refactoring; but also higher level concepts such as good object oriented design.
You're aware of the trade-offs involved in proper engineering and can make balanced business decisions, keeping in mind all the stakeholders of the project.
You’ve got opinions on code design and you can discuss them, but you’re professional enough to not let those opinions get in the way of a consensus if necessary.
If you’re any good at Ruby, this is probably not the first job ad you’ve seen, so we’ve done our best to stand out while also accurately presenting what we’re all about. If it sounds like you would enjoy working with us, don’t hesitate to apply or drop us a line with questions on [email protected].
What’s a Silverfin?
At Silverfin we’re trying to apply the promise of software to the age-old industry of accounting. With our SaaS we’re automating a large chunk of the busy-work that accountants are currently handling manually, and are building new tools so they can provide better services to their customers. We aim to optimise their workflow in such a way that accountants can spend more time on the much more impactful and rewarding work of advising their customers, the business owners.

Our customers adore us! The even better news is there’s still plenty left to work on, and that’s where we hope you come in.
What’s Team Syncs?
One of the core features of Silverfin is integration with the bookkeeping software that accountants already work with, in order to import their accounting data. This means we have integrations with over 30 different vendors, and we want to add more as we expand to different markets.
Team Syncs is one of the teams responsible for creating and maintaining these kinds of integrations. The ideal candidate loves working with APIs, including the uncertainty they bring. Some APIs we need to use are poorly designed, badly documented or unreliable, and it can be challenging to build a robust integration. Yet the satisfaction of empowering our customers to import gigabytes of data from their clunky bookkeeping software and to use Silverfin's advanced features makes it all worth it.
Being a tinkerer and having persistence to solve puzzles will definitely be a plus to face our many challenges due to the plethora of different systems we interact with.
Now let’s give you something to chew on!
Our short-term roadmap will focus on:
Refactoring and improving our own framework (written in Ruby) which is installed on windows machines and consumes our REST API. This process involves accessing raw data on customer’s machines and sometimes doing reverse engineering to collect and transmit the required data.
Building an auto-updater for our system to be able to perform automatic updates of our Ruby client in a timely fashion over more than a thousand remote installations running at our customers’ premises.
Improving our Ruby client’s performance
Adding tools to our framework to debug, instrument and log errors.
Longer term we will then focus on:
Refactoring internal data import pipeline. The main goal will be to move from sequential processing to parallel processing to improve syncs speed and stability by cutting through legacy technical debt.
Improving our syncs interacting with 3rd party APIs to optimise the amount of queries we perform and reduce necessary pressure.
Implement orchestration when downloading financial documents to improve performance and give our customer better feedback.
Bringing our administration sync pipeline to the next level by integrating technologies only used by our financial pipeline.
What does working at Silverfin look like?
The product team will work together with the other Silverfin engineering teams. While the product team is set up as a stream-aligned team, most other teams are set up as platform teams around modules and topics of the Silverfin application. They are helping the stream-aligned team to develop solutions fast and without a lot of mental overhead. The platform teams' focus is the stability and long term architecture of the product as well as building frameworks and libraries that can be used by the stream aligned team. If those terms are not familiar to you, check out the "Team Topologies" book by Manuel Pais and Matthew Skelton which inspired this structure.

UX Engineer with a Passion for Investing
Variant Perception is a small investment team creating research and insights for sophisticated investors. We are known for building predictive models with innovative techniques. Our investment process is based on first principles thinking with empirical verification. We study history to understand how financial markets work and build systematic models using these insights.
We are looking for a UX Engineer to perfect our user interface. We need someone who can empathise with investors, understand their ideal workflow, and implement improvements: from UI components to cloud functions. Formal experience in finance is helpful but a passion for investing is key.
Your role on the team
- You will begin by implementing features and improvements relating to user preferences, recommendations, and user interactions. Our “research portal” is implemented in Typescript, Nextjs, and uses Firebase/GCP services extensively.
- You will have a critical influence on style and design. Good design means usability, simplicity, and elegance. Investing is already hard enough. We want to remove cognitive load from users and create intuitive interactions that provide them with actionable insights.
- Our quant team builds dashboards and web apps that cater to specific investor needs. The apps are embedded in the research portal. You will help design and productionize these apps.
- Our end goal is to build natural language interfaces for our data, charts, and research insights. You will be a key contributor to this effort, alongside our data engineering team.
- Ultimately, we want someone entrepreneurial to take ownership of the client facing product and help us build a better investing platform.
Are you a good fit?
You care deeply about user experience. You want to leverage technology to create happy and productive users.
You must believe it's possible to build predictive models for markets. If you believe in efficient markets, you will not like this job or our mission.
We have big goals for our team and rely on each other to achieve them. To be successful at VP you must be self-motivated, have trust in teammates, be forgiving of mistakes, be open-minded and above all enjoy figuring out problems, often from scratch.
To build the best platform we must experiment with new ideas and technologies. You should enjoy continuous learning.
Location
Our team is fully remote, with in-person offsites twice a year.

Rails Backend Developer (Full-time, Remote)
We’re seeking a full-time, remote Rails backend developer in Europe or on the US east coast.
About the Work
- You’ll be the sole Ruby on Rails developer.
- You’ll mostly work on the business logic of our web platform, and only occasionally work on the views (our frontend developer usually handles that part in a separate Next.js app).
- You’ll join a small product team consisting of 1 frontend developer, 1 part-time TypeScript backend developer, 3 designers, and 1 product manager.
- You’ll report directly to the founders (one of whom is technical) and periodically collaborate with people outside the product team.
- You’ll play an active role in the shaping and scoping of new features.
About You
You must naturally thrive working independently. Furthermore, you should be:
- Impatient — You must have an insatiable desire to constantly move things forward and take action without asking for permission.
- Comfortable in uncertainty — You must regularly e into complex problems and systems without knowing all of their details upfront.
- Something to prove — A desire to show the world what you’re made of; ambition matters.
Our Development Principles
The following principles have served us well; you should at least be open to them:
- Get to production — We want to get things into their real environment as early as possible and then rapidly iterate from there. This means constantly shipping incremental pieces, whether it be directly to customers, behind feature flags, on an obscure URL, as a script, or some other form.
- Constantly fight the urge to do more — Everyone, including yourself, will naturally slide towards wanting to make the thing a little bigger and a little better. You must be vigilant in pushing back to avoid scope creep.
- Testing means clicking — Automated tests are great, but actually using the real thing, in a browser, with production data is indispensable. A feature is not tested if you haven’t tried it the way the end-user will.
