Position Summary:
KIND seeks a paralegal to support KIND’s delivery of legal services to KIND clients across KIND field offices and teams through a range of case support tasks in coordination with our attorneys. The National Team is comprised of attorneys and paralegals who fill a critical role at KIND by deploying remotely and, as needed, in person, to work with field offices experiencing staffing vacancies. Members of the National Team also work across KIND to help identify trends and patterns. This position will work across the Legal Programs department, and will also provide regular support to KIND’s Family Separation Team in delivering legal services to separated families who have been reunified in the United States. Paralegals are responsible for conducting client intakes, legal research, preparation of immigration forms, drafting affidavits, maintaining files and data, travel preparation, social services referrals, and other related duties. The Paralegal reports to an attorney on the National Team. Occasional travel will be required to assist teams needing in-person support.

KIND’s social services program ensures that migrant and refugee children – who have often endured trauma – receive counseling, educational support, medical care, and other comprehensive services.
To address the root causes of child migration from Central America and strengthen protection of unaccompanied children, KIND advocates for policy changes and educates lawmakers, the media, and the broader public on the conditions that drive these children to flee their home countries. KIND supports children returning to their home countries by connecting them to essential support services and sponsors gender-based violence prevention programs in Central America to protect children in countries of origin and transit.
KIND is also building upon its expertise in the protection of unaccompanied children to encourage the development of pro bono initiatives across Europe in partnership with European NGOs.
Position Summary:
KIND seeks a full-time Paralegal to join its Family Separation team within the organization’s Legal Services component. The Paralegal will be part of KIND’s legal strategy, technical assistance and training arm within the Legal Services team and will report to a Senior Attorney on the Family Separation Team. The Paralegal will may work remotely, or can be based in any one of KIND’s field offices.
The Paralegal will work alongside the Managing Attorney and the rest of the Family Separation Team, to provide legal and administrative support to assist children and families impacted by family separation and other emerging legal and policy changes affecting migrant children seeking safe haven in the U.S. The Paralegal will provide litigation assistance, data management, legal support, and office administration in a cutting-edge area of work on behalf of highly vulnerable children. The paralegal will undertake case support tasks in coordination with attorneys, including conducting client intakes, legal research, preparation of immigration forms, drafting affidavits, maintaining files and data, hearing preparation, social services referrals, and other related duties.
Essential Functions:
- Provide legal, administrative, operations, and program support to attorneys working on family separation matters;
- Conduct client phone screenings and intake interviews and draft intake memoranda, and conduct initial assessment of case referrals received against case acceptance criteria and program priorities;
- Provide support for on-going FTCA litigation and administrative claims, including tracking cases and dates of filing, communicating and coordinating with pro bono and non-profit partners, calling clients, and providing support in preparation of documents for filing in federal litigation;
- Provide support to attorneys on in-house cases, including conducting legal research and country conditions research; filling out immigration benefit and other standard forms; submitting case file records requests to government agencies; drafting affidavits and basic motions; assisting with hearing and interview preparation; maintaining case files and data entry in case management database; and other tasks as needed;
- Serve as point of contact for clients, proactively ensuring that case files and case management system reflect current contact information and status updates on case developments and child’s wellbeing;
- Provide support to pro bono attorneys during case placement and assist with administrative and planning tasks related to pro bono attorney training and mentoring;
- Ensure that client and case information is kept up to date in the case management database, and assist in data reporting for internal reports and for external reports to funders;
- For direct representation cases, conduct regular check-ins with the child, particularly in cases in which case adjudication is delayed; update attorneys regarding new developments, as needed;
- For pro bono cases, assist in case audit efforts, ensuring that updates from pro bono attorneys regarding case status and child’s wellbeing and timely and accurately recorded;
- For cases involving detained, forcibly separated children, screen referrals and assist in locating detained parents, as well as facilitate communication with detained parents and family members in the child’s home country;
- Help assess the needs of repatriating separated children for social services in their home country and make referrals to KIND’s Reintegration and Repatriation program as needed;
- Support KIND’s role in communicating with and assisting members of the expanded class of parents who were forcibly separated from their children and have been recently identified through litigation;
- Provide remote assistance to the Managing Attorney for the Family Separation & Special Programs team, particularly on maintaining case data, conducting phone screenings, and making referrals to potential clients;
- Liaise with Social Services Coordinators regarding social services needs and referrals; assist with social services projects depending on office needs, including expenditure and tracking of emergency assistance funds; and work collaboratively to achieve programmatic goals where legal services/social services intersect;
- Support internal budgetary tracking; ensure appropriate tracking of client emergency fees and other expenditures; logging of expenses and receipts; reporting expenses for grant tracking purposes;
- Review, edit, and format guidance documents, narrative reports for funders, and other documents as needed;
- Assist with editing and/or translating Spanish language documents. Coordinate external interpreter resources where needed.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree;
- Advanced fluency in Spanish language;
- Minimum 1-year experience working with children, at-risk youth, immigrants, refugees, and/or vulnerable populations;

In this role, you will:
- Support core corporate governance and securities-related workstreams, including:
- Preparation and distribution of materials for Board of Directors and Committee meetings via Samsara’s board portal and maintenance of portal;

About the Job:

Job Summary:
This is an in-house counsel role with the Legal Department’s Dispute Resolution Services – Corporate Litigation group, which principally manages class litigation and complex litigation challenging the company’s policies, practices and procedures. In this role, you will be a member of the Gaming and Regulatory group, and provide legal counsel for all regulatory matters surrounding our gaming products. What you’ll do as a Corporate Counsel, Regulatory:
- Work with various business units on regulatory and legal issues surrounding the company’s licensed and regulated product offerings.
- Provide support to our Compliance Team on interpreting regulatory and licensing guidelines.
- Work with outside regulators to anticipate and resolve any disputes concerning how regulations apply to the company’s product offerings and business operations.
- Regularly evaluate the user-facing aspects of the company’s product offerings in light of legal and regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate and guide response to legal and regulatory issues surrounding customer communications.
- Coordinate cross-functional legal input by working closely with other attorneys within the Legal department.
- Manage and direct outside law firms where necessary.
What you’ll bring:
- At least 3 years of legal experience at a law firm, in-house, or working for a state or federal regulatory or enforcement body.
- Knowledge of the gaming law industry is strongly preferred, interest in gaming law required.
- Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited institution with excellent academic credentials.
- Genuine desire to learn and adapt to an in-house legal environment in a technology-driven growth stage company.
- Team player with excellent business and legal judgment and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced work environment.
- Demonstrated experience reviewing and analyzing regulations.

WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER
The Senior Paralegal, in partnership with an experienced TNC attorney, will provide a high level of support on complex and/or high value matters, including conservation real estate transactions, contracts and compliance with TNC policies and procedures. They will bring expertise in title review, escrow processes and transactions management for assigned business units or projects, ensuring that transactions and activities are legally sound, consistent with TNC’s policies and procedures and TNC’s mission and authority. The Senior Paralegal should be able to apply their experience and project management skills to ensure timely delivery of work products and transaction closings. They should be able to be a part of, and sometimes lead, a team of erse iniduals representing disciplines across TNC to achieve a conservation outcome. They should have strong people skills, emotional intelligence and situational awareness to navigate complex projects and relationships. They should also have a strong working knowledge of legal concepts and terminology, especially relating to real estate transactions. They should be able to effectively articulate relevant legal concepts and internal policies and procedures to others and have a solid understanding of legal liability and risk management. They should have excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
WE’RE LOOKING FOR YOU
We are a global conservation organization looking for someone with strong paralegal experience to provide legal services for our programs, which will include complex real estate transactions, legal commitments associated with complex conservation projects and legal research. You will work with others to ensure our legal commitments, policies and procedures and other legal requirements are met and managed for compliance. You will also be responsible for drafting complex legal documents for attorney review and effectively managing transactions in compliance with TNC internal requirements. You’ll have exceptional communication and organizational skills, be self-motivated, detail oriented, and able to multi-task, track, and complete many items simultaneously. Analytical experience with accounting and finance is a plus too.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING

Overview of the Role
Reporting directly to the Head of HR, you will work closely with the Compliance, Regulations, AdminOps, and Operations Teams to drive strategy for our legal geographic expansion processes such as state licenses, city registrations, project permits, and customer & subcontractor contracts. Additionally, you may also support decisions and provide guidance around company insurance, review company contracts, track and monitor compliance and advise on legal and compliance issues.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable running a team and building playbooks and lean processes at the ground level.
Responsibilities
- Research and create a strategic plan to meet the national compliance needs which vary by state and city
- Ensure state/city licenses and registrations are obtained on time to support geo expansion
- Ensure state and local compliance across customer and sub-contractor contracts pre-geo launch
- Develop scalable processes for city registrations and project permits with TAT that give us a competitive edge
- Serve as a point of contact for escalations when they occur as a bottleneck to expansion
- Additional support for other teams:
- Support Operations team to address any one-off legal issues pertaining to specific customer escalations (e.g. payments, warranty)
- Support the Commercial Sales team to perform contract reviews for large commercial projects
- Support Finance in insurance strategy and broker management as needed
- Lead our compliance and license team through regular feedback and performance management
Desired Skills and Experience
Must have
- Minimum four-year degree (Bachelor’s) degree in Criminal Justice, Law, International Relations, business administration, finance, or equivalent experience.
