Who We Are:
Our mission at Hazel is simple and powerful. We use AI to help U.S. government purchasing teams buy at the speed of need with unparalleled efficiency and cost-effectiveness. It is a $2.7T problem every single year, and Hazel is at the forefront with State, Local, and EDucation (SLED) and federal government agencies.
Government procurement has moved at a glacial pace for decades, stovepiped by complex processes, regulatory capture, and overworked civil servants. The impacts are severe. Our founders saw at Palantir and BCG how lowly procurement challenges fueled wildfires across California, compromised critical U.S. national security systems, and wasted billions of dollars.
Hazel has identified a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to solve this by deploying cutting-edge AI to the public sector and unlocking the full potential of our nation. We empower our partners to move with expediency against the most pressing challenges of this century including climate sustainability, great power competition, and more. Hazel builds AI for the public interest.
What We Are Building:
Hazel is transforming government procurement – how government agencies purchase goods and services from commercial vendors. This includes everything from copy paper to wind turbines to nuclear submarines. Our platform supports the full lifecycle of government procurement from need identification through award management. Hazel’s partners include state & local governments, schools, and federal agencies with whom we develop a product with features including:
* AI labeling and categorization of solicitation text documents
* Creation of solicitation documents with generative AI * Vendor discovery, labeling, and identification * Purchasing decision optimization with data-driven insights * Indexing and referencing of compliance documentsWhy Join Hazel:
As a Hazel founding engineer, you will gain unparalleled access and insight into how top government stakeholders manage billion-dollar purchasing decisions. You’ll then turn those insights into product by owning development of one of the most innovative, consequential, and secure software solutions in government today. This includes building secure large language models, integrating and training them on unstructured text data from over 19,000 agencies, and building a responsive front-end cloud-hosted application. Only Hazel offers the cadence and rigor of a tech startup paired with the impact and mission of the public sector.
You’ll work side-by-side with inquisitive and driven founders who want to grow with and support you every way they can. The founders continuously promote learning (about everything) and have numerous resources available from other founders/startups/VCs.
Hazel is a mission-driven organization founded by engineers and built around delivering world-class innovation to our government partners. We strive for excellence, deliver impact, and have fun doing it.
How You Fit Us:
You care about mission. Hazel partners with agencies supporting everything from public school teachers in the classroom to warfighters in the field. We believe in products which change America for the better.
You solve problems. There’s no more time to opine on strategy and policy when our nation faces existential challenges, today. We are workhorses, not showhorses.
You are always learning. Nobody has all the answers, and the world is ever-evolving – so we must be adaptive and curious about everything. We bring the best practices available to meet the challenge.
You believe in team. Our team grows together, supports one another, and elevates our shared successes. We are more effective together.

📬 About Stable
Our mission is to make it simple to headquarter any business on the internet. Today, we provide companies with a business address and a dashboard to manage their physical mail online. Over 4000+ companies like Gitlab, Glassdoor, and Indiegogo use Stable to automate their mailroom and act as their permanent business address with the IRS, state, and vendors.
The rules that regulate US entities were written in the 1800s. Stable abstracts these antiquated requirements with tools that empower modern companies to move forward faster.
These rules don't make sense for the way we work today — work takes place in the cloud and businesses are no longer tied to physical proximity or geography.
We’re on a mission to fix the broken system of entity management. Starting with business addresses and mail, we’re abstracting the complex, archaic systems that make company-building painful and turning them into delightful experiences — so that modern businesses have the tools they need to move forward faster.
We're backed by leading Silicon Valley investors like Y Combinator, Craft Ventures, Shakti, Hustle Fund, and founders from companies like Lattice, Apartment List, and FlexJobs.
Our business is at an inflection point. We’re growing quickly with a product people love and we’ve proven we can service companies of all stages and industries — from early-stage startups to mid-market companies in industries like technology, logistics, and property management.
This is an opportunity to join an early-stage startup as one of the first employees and have work that directly impacts the future of how companies are built.
👩💻👨💻 Role
You will meet, learn from, and become an expert on our customers so you can create solutions that solve their problems.
As the second design hire reporting into the Founding Designer, you will lay the foundation for a product used by thousands of businesses. You will help establish and maintain strong foundations in product development processes, research practices, design systems, and more. You will design intuitive workflows for our users — CEOs, founders, and operations managers of fast-growing companies all around the world. Many of our customers describe our product as “magical and easy-to-use”, and want you to help us scale without losing that magic.
Some of the areas of focus we hope will excite you as much as us:
* Refine user experiences end-to-end — We’ll look to you to generate novel experiences that help customers meet their goals, while also continuing to iterate on and refine existing workflows.
* Be a product leader — Provide product insights to directly influence our roadmap and help determine what we should build next.* Wear many hats — No task is too small for you and you’re eager to support the team in any way you can. We founded Warmly to help revenue teams convert more demand (watch our product story here, or read it here). We’re a Series A company (backed by Y-Combinator, Felicis & Sequoia) with a next level appetite to crush sales & marketing efforts. Having gone 0 to $1M in ARR in a year, it’s now time to scale (check out why customers love us). Because we value transparency so highly, learn more about our current revenue, KPIs and valuation in our public LinkedIn newsletter.
We’re at an exciting point in time where product marketing can make an outsized impact on the company’s trajectory. More on how we work here and why our investors are excited about us here. Come join us!

Oway is a rideshare freight platform that automatically coordinates and sells unused space in trucks to SMBs at a 50% discount for lightning-fast shipping. We are a simple tool (you can place an order in 30 seconds) designed to scale with your business. Our ML rideshare protocol now allows businesses to ship freight affordably and faster than ever before. We also improve the survivability of independent truckers by maximizing their revenue when they’re already on the road - and it’s great for the environment too.
The specifics? SMB’s represent 44% of the US GDP, and are historically forced to deal with high freight rates and friction due to their small size compared to enterprise businesses. On the other hand, nearly half of all truck space goes unused annually in the $900B+ US trucking industry. With trucking being a hyper-fragmented market (90%+ of US trucking companies are small family businesses), we decided to build an ecosystem that takes all of this inefficiency and turns it into something that could fundamentally transform the livelihoods of businesses and drivers alike.
