**Lifetimely is a SaaS company looking for a backend-focused Ruby on Rails engineer to help build out our SaaS product serving 5000+ e-commerce stores. Our users include names like MrBeast’s snacking brand Feastables, Liquid Death, and Colgate.
**You can read about our app on the Shopify app store. We provide real-time reporting to ecommerce shop owners. To give you a sense of scale - we collect data on millions of orders per day from thousands of ecommerce stores and process many millions of background jobs to be able to deliver quality reporting and insights to our customers.
We're looking to add a great backend RoR developer to our existing team.
**
We are looking for someone who**:- has worked on and had to support a web app in production for at least 2 years
- At least 3 years of working experience writing maintainable and well-tested Ruby on Rails apps
- has experience with a relational database and is good at SQL
- humble, can mentor others, both provide and receive direction and is always willing to share what they learn
- overlaps with CET zone at least 5 hours ( prefer Europe / Africa )
**
What you will do:**- build and have ownership over new integrations with external data sources we use to augment our reports (we integrate with a wide range of systems from ad platforms to CRMs and shipping services.)
- optimize our existing complex backend processing jobs
- optimize existing data pipelines
- participate in building new app features for thousands of merchants who trust us with their reporting data
**
Where we are and how we work:**- We are a distributed team all over the globe, but our development team mainly works during Western European working hours.
- We are used to async communication over Slack but also have regular weekly meetings to sync up.
- Our tech stack is Ruby / Javascript / Stimulus / Tailwind CSS / SQL / Git
- We optimize new features for the long term. For us, this is not a sprint but a marathon.
Working for Lifetimely doesn't feel like the usual office or startup gig: we are a distributed group of 20+ people across ten different countries 🇫🇮 🇺🇸 🇫🇷 🇨🇱 🇪🇬 🇪🇸 🇭🇷🇸🇬🇦🇺🇦🇺 with our own way of working. Some of us are nomads, some just like working remotely. We highly encourage written (long-form) communication and documenting things on Notion, and generally don't like tight fixed schedules. There is not much management or oversight, we expect you to know how to manage yourself. We prioritize shipping and results above how or when you do the work.
If you prefer to do meetings and calls or just know that you need a lot of human interaction, Lifetimely is probably not the best place for you to work at. But if you are into distributed work and prefer the lifestyle aspects or maybe live somewhere with not a lot of exciting product companies to work for, you will enjoy working with us.
**
Compensation**This is a full-time position with annual compensation of USD 40 000 to USD 65 000 and varies with experience and skill set. You can be a full-time employee with PTO (through Multiplier) or a full-time contractor depending on your location and preferences. We will provide you the necessary equipment and pay for a co-working space if you have one nearby.
**
Hiring Process**Our process has three steps:
- A simple coding task that takes no more than 30 min and can be done at your convenience
- Video call where we discuss the task and ask you about your experience
- A paid trial two-week contract (if your current role allows) where you work with us as if you were full-time. If this is not possible, we can also do a traditional tech interview.
**
How to apply:**Tell us about:
- Describe the largest web app you worked on and the most challenging problem you worked on?
- The timezone you are in?
- When can you start at the earliest?
After you've applied, we will reach out to you for a test task if you're selected for the first round of interviews.

Affirm’s engineering team is building a large-scale, fault-tolerant, and global infrastructure that is shared across multiple financial products. Ensuring that our infrastructure is available to all engineers is critical to the success of the business. We pride ourselves on our culture across engineering of writing blameless postmortems, writing detailed tech specs, and gathering feedback before large changes to systems.
The Compute team provides a Kubernetes-based platform that runs all of Affirm – enabling management, configuration, provisioning and operation of our compute infrastructure. 🔥 Join a Growing SaaS Business with Big Potential 🔥**Are you looking to be part of a small development team, where you can make your mark?
HR Partner is a growing human resource management SaaS app that has around 2000 customers in 70 countries. We are on a mission to grow to become one of the leading HR platforms worldwide, and we are looking for talented developers to help us achieve this objective.
What is the Role?
The HR Partner app is written in Ruby, but not Ruby on Rails - rather, we use a Sinatra based framework called Padrino. If you know the Ruby language inside and out, then this could be a good challenge for you to focus on building using a different framework that isn't quite as opinionated as Rails. This position is for a full stack developer, so knowledge in building APIs (including integrating with third-party APIs), tuning SQL queries via an ORM, caching reusable views on Redis, as well as improving customer experience by building snappier user interfaces will be highly regarded.
The main codebase has grown organically over the past 7 years, and there is now scope for taking an app that is essentially a monolith with some microservices around it, to the next level so it will be scalable well into the future. Some experience with Nodejs will also be advantageous as we have Lambda functions built using Node that we wish to expand upon and improve. Experience with tuning Ruby memory management and resource utilisation will also be a great skill to have.
Our front end currently uses a legacy javascript library, and one upcoming task will be to modernise it and bring it up to date using a more current front-end framework. Knowledge of HTML/CSS is also critical as we transition from the older Bootstrap framework to something like Tailwind CSS.
We are looking for developers who are excited by the challenge of taking an existing project, in a stable and growing company, and helping to improve it so that it can be scaled and maintained well into the future. This is a fully remote position, and you will be working your own hours as part of a very small team, and as such, you will be doing large blocks of work without being micro-managed. As you get to grips with our codebase, you will be taking on full responsibility for entire modules and features that you will build, test and deploy pretty much yourself.
What are we looking for?
You are someone who is smart, self-driven and interested in being part of a long-term project where you can see your ideas and work come into fruition. In particular, you should be;
- A self-starter - Do you have exciting side projects that you have worked on, publicly or privately?
- Willing to learn - Are you looking forward to implementing some of the latest and greatest technology alongside some old and mundane ones?
- An ideas person - Do you 'push back' when asked to do a task if you think there is a better way to do it?
- Brimming with initiative - When working on a codebase, do you see opportunities to improve other things outside of your scope of work?
- A marathoner - Are you happy just coding away for hours uninterrupted, and keep yourself motivated while doing so?Ideally, you will be located in the Asian or Eastern European timezones (GMT + 3 hours to GMT + 12 hours), to make it easier to collaborate with our CTO who is based in Australia, but don't worry if you are outside of that.
Why will you love working at HR Partner?
We might be biased, but there's a lot to love about working here, including;
- Work-from-home - We've been fully remote since our inception, so you can work from the comfort of your own home.
- Flexible hours - Need to pickup the kids or go to gym in the middle of the day? No problem. So long as you are around for some agreed overlapping working times, you can structure your day to suit your lifestyle. If you would prefer to work part-time hours, we're open to those ideas too.
- Small, international team - You'll work with colleagues around the world - all of whom are smart, inspiring people! We truly love our team at HR Partner and we hope you will too.
- Learning & growth - We’re big supporters of personal growth and development and our team is constantly learning and upskilling themselves in many different areas. Innovation is a big part of our culture and we welcome new ideas from everyone.
- Meaningful work - We’re constantly getting feedback from customers that are relieved to be using HR Partner. It feels great to be part of something that small businesses grow and support their employees as they do so.
If you want to be part of a small but dynamic team that is passionate about supporting our customers, then we'd love to hear from you and have you as part of our team!

- Perhaps you come from a traditionally underrepresented group (such as age range, ethnicity, cultural background and experience, disability, religious beliefs, gender, sexual orientation, neuroersity) and would like to work in an environment that strives to offer you a level playing field
- Maybe you have an unusual life story, a topsy-turvy career path or a unique way of being and thinking that means you bring something different to a team
- You might be incredibly passionate about what you do and how you do it, and want to bring that passion to Moneyhub.
- Whatever it is that makes you *you*, we want to hear about it, and we have a question on the application form for this role where you can tell us more.
