Checking quality is one of the most important tasks at Anakin. Our clients are pricing their products based on our data, and minor errors on our end can lead to our client's losses of millions of dollars. You would work with multiple tools and with people across various departments to ensure the accuracy of the data being crawled. You would setup manual and automated processes and make sure they run to ensure the higest possible data quality.
You are the engineer other engineers can count on. You embrace every problem with enthusiasm. You remove hurdles, are a self-starter, team player. You have the hunger to venture into unknown areas and make the system work.
Experience in large companies is not required to be successful here - rather we look for smart, motivated, collaborative engineers who love solving problems and want to make an impact on our inspiring mission. Responsibilities:
- Understand customer web scraping and data requirements; translate these into test approaches that include exploratory manual/visual testing and any additional automated tests deemed appropriate
- Take ownership of the end-to-end QA process in newly-started projects
- Draw conclusions about data quality by producing basic descriptive statistics, summaries, and visualisations
- Proactively suggest and take ownership of improvements to QA processes and methodologies by employing other technologies and tools, including but not limited to: browser add-ons, Excel add-ons, UI-based test automation tools etc.
- Ensure that project requirements are testable; work with project managers and/or clients to clarify ambiguities before QA begins
- Drive innovation and advanced validation and analytics techniques to ensure data quality for Anakin's customers
- Optimize data quality codebases and systems to monitor the Anakin family of app crawlers
- Configure and optimize the automated and manual testing and deployment systems used to check the quality of billions of data points of over 1000+ crawlers across the company
- Analyze data and bugs that require in-depth investigations
- Interface directly with external customers including managing relationships and steering requirements
Basic Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience as a backend or a full-stack software engineer
- Web scraping experience with Python or Node.js
- 2+ years of experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, etc.
- Should have managed a team of software engineers
- Should be paranoid about data quality
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Deep experience with network debugging across all OSI layers (Wireshark)
- Knowledge of networks or/and cybersecurity
- Broad understanding of the landscape of software engineering design patterns and principles
- Ability to work quickly and accurately in a highly stressful environment during removing bugs in run-time within minutes
- Excellent communicator, both written and verbal

THE TECH PLATFORM WE ARE BUILDING
Superside is right now in a unique position to expand on existing deep customer relationships and we are gradually introducing a customizable creative operations system - specifically built for the large-scale enterprise use case. First iterations of many of these elements are already in place.
This “Creative OS” is structured around 4 distinct functional areas:
Drag&Drop Brief Editor: The customer can configure their own creative briefs per product and define rules for who should be allowed to submit projects.
Assignment, Planning & Project Management: The customer can create automatic assignment rules for incoming projects (e.g. all critical deadline projects should go to Superside) or decide on a per project basis inside the Superside PM tool who should do what. The customer can also plan campaigns, chat internally on an “Epic” level and manage their own non-Superside projects.
Project Execution, Design Commenting & Collaboration: The most important part of the Superside app is the actual project execution, where Superside should impose an opinionated process for how creative projects should be executed in various stages. Commenting by multiple team members should be made easy and centered around the creative use case.
Output, File Management & Result Measurement: Finally, all creative projects need to go where customers can see them, and Superside should make it easy to output projects to Digital Assets Managers, Marketing Clouds, Ad Servers or FB/Google ad managers. The dream is for Superside to eventually “close the loop” and link the actual project result performance back to the creative that has worked on the file.
Along every step of the 4-step framework the customer will also be given the opportunity to create workflows and automations. Inside the Superside’s workflow editor, the customer can break down complex projects into milestones, decision points and automated integrations (e.g. «add final file to DAM», «create Facebook ad-group using final output» or «push final file to email marketing software»). When the customer creates a new project, they select the right workflow template to get started. What We're Looking For
As a SQA and Test Engineer you’ll be responsible for developing comprehensive solutions and processes to test our web applications and back-end services. Working with the engineering team, you’ll design and implement workable testing strategies and test plans. You’ll also build automated testing pipelines to run on a variety of software repositories.
Example challenges you may work on:
- Automate unit testing with GitHub Actions in Go and Javascript repositories
- Develop regression testing plans and systems for web applications
- Develop tools to help with integration and end-to-end testing of applications in Python and Go
The Role
- Report directly to our CTO.
- Validate development of features and fixes for expected behavior, edge-cases handling, and handling of malicious input
- Develop manual test plans covering intended behaviors and expected error conditions of several web based software products
- Champion quality development practices throughout the stack
- Use your experience to help guide key decisions on testing and quality standards
- Review current system design and architecture for critical components and develop test and validation plans for them.
- Provide input as the team expands and new resources are added
- Work in a fast-paced environment, putting first drafts into the world quickly and iterating based on metrics and analytics.
