We're changing that. AtoB is building Stripe for Transportation — modernizing the payments infrastructure for trucking and logistics. We aim to center our customers in every way — offering them world-class customer experience and building products that work with and around the unique constraints of their daily lives. Seeking an experienced Research Scientist to lead the design and implementation of systems that rethink and improve the modern networking stack and help us smoothly distribute systems that no one has ever distributed before!
Research at Protocol Labs
This isn't an ordinary Research Scientist position. We are driven by both a hunger to learn and a need to work toward solving important problems. Our research scientists are granted the freedom to develop their knowledge by working on novel applications and the responsibility to contribute those skills toward advancing the flagship projects of Protocol Labs. You’ll feel at home working with us if your knowledge and optimism enables you to name a few unusual possible approaches when you’re first presented with a problem that people often consider intractable.
We understand that networks are more than the sum of their parts. We share a conviction that systems should be decentralized, in spite of inherent difficulties in doing so. We believe that the internet is as important as it is fragile and novel improvements in robustness, resource management and allocation efficiency, fault tolerance, consensus, security, performance, and availability are required to protect and improve it. We built libp2p because we thought IPFS should include a better way of sending data between peers. Now we’re improving our libraries and expanding the scope. As Filecoin grows, we seek a specialist who can help make the networking stack on which it relies as efficient, robust, and secure as possible.
We seek researchers who can discover, conceive, incorporate, and implement novel distributed networks and decentralized systems.
As Research Scientist at Protocol Labs you will…
* Participate in cutting-edge research in computer networks and distributed systems.
* Develop novel systems and protocols, learning from existing ones.* Study potential improvements or new additions to systems like IPFS, libp2p, and Filecoin.* Work with the development team on turning research into implementations.* Quantify performance, security, and other properties of existing and proposed systems; suggest improvements based on the data. You may be a fit for this role if you have...
* MS or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical & Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
* Programming experience and proficiency in more than one of the following: Go, Rust, JavaScript, C, C++, Haskell, OCaml, Python, Clojure.* Ability to analyze, criticize, and improve the design of complex computer network systems.* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.* Experience contributing to research communities and/or efforts, including publishing conference papers.Bonus Points If...
* You have a record of demonstrating state-of-the-art innovation in distributed systems with a proven publication record or project history. (Potentially including but not limited to distributed data structures, novel network architectures and protocols, consensus protocols, peer-to-peer connectivity, distributed execution, distributed file systems, network optimization, graph traversals, and dynamic network analysis.)
* You’re comfortable digging through new academic literature on graph theory or IETF RFCs for inspiration while problem-solving.* You believe that you don’t really understand something until you can explain it to a six-year-old, and your experience mentoring or writing technical explainers or blog posts demonstrates that you enjoy testing your understanding against this metric.* You’ve demonstrated technical project management skills and the ability to design and execute on a research agenda.* You have experience setting up and managing research collaborations or contractors. What’s it like to work at Protocol Labs?
Protocol Labs mission is to improve humanity’s most important technology, the Internet. We build protocols, systems, and tools to improve how it works. Today, we are focused on how we store, locate, and move information. Our projects include IPFS, Filecoin, libp2p, and more.
As a distributed team, we hire anywhere in the world, and at various levels of experience (entry, senior, staff). We look for people with unique perspectives and erse backgrounds.
We have a great benefits package, including parental leave, contributions to your retirement, competitive pay, and unlimited time off. For U.S.-based employees, we also provide platinum-level health, dental, and vision coverage for you and your family.

Job Description
I am the cofounder of SwiftSku, and we empower mom and pop convenience stores to compete against the Goliath chains of the industry. We have just finished our $3M seed round after Y Combinator’s Winter ‘21 demo day and we are off to the races.
SwiftSku's CEO, Mit Patel, grew up managing the inventory, pricebook, and reporting of his family’s convenience stores, and, when vendors would come by, he’d bridge the language barrier as a translator. More than 85% of independent convenience stores are owned by Indian families like Mit’s.
SwiftSku was born through Mit’s first hand experience of the pain these small business owners have managing their entire business by pen and paper. While in college, Mit and Daniel founded SwiftSku with the greater vision of revolutionizing the entire industry from inventory management to supply chain optimization.
Today, SwiftSku provides owners pricebook management, fuel pump controls, and brand to consumer loyalty programs. We are a small startup and we are building the infrastructure these small businesses desperately need. We need a quick learner that can jump into solving new and complex problems in an ignored and seemingly unsexy industry.
Tens of thousands of convenience store owners are finding that their priceless point of sale data is being deleted and are forced to rely on their gut for important business decisions. SwiftSku has a hardware device that plugs into their point of sale systems to empower owners with business intelligence for the first time all from their smartphone.
About Your Role
We are looking for a committed full time Technical Support rep. to join our founding team. Our team is entirely remote, although the company is based in the United States.
If you love the idea of having a real impact on the lives of tens of thousands of American small business owners while working with an amazing group of people, then SwiftSku is for you.

Software Engineer - Integrations
Etleap came to be out of the frustration with how much time data wrangling takes away from the actual analysis. We were just tired of spending time building and maintaining data pipelines. Then we noticed, so is everyone else! That is why we’ve created an intuitive ETL tool that easily enables the data analysts themselves to integrate data from any source. This way data analysts can do their most significant work faster than ever before.
Now we are looking to add engineers to our core engineering team to help build the infrastructure and the integrations that modern data teams depend on to create and operate their data warehouse! It shouldn’t take a CS degree to use big data effectively, and abstracting away the difficult parts is our mission.
Are you ready for the challenge?
What you are going to do:
* Be part of the team that is building the next generation of ETL software
* Build fast, scalable, easy-to-maintain integrations that gets data flowing with minimal latency* Come up with novel ideas on how to extend Etleap’s integrations framework, and then implement those ideas as reusable interfaces and componentsWhat we want to see in you:
* You love data engineering
* You write robust and maintainable code three times as fast as other developers* You find reverse-engineering systems interesting* Coding in Java is second nature to you* You’re excited to work in a scrappy, fast-paced environment* You’re down to earth and fun to work with. This is an absolute must! This role is open to iniduals living anywhere in the world.

Why we're looking for you
It’s been a busy year: we've helped our customers build nearly-countless tools to do their business better, raised a Series B, more than tripled our revenue, and overall grown the business. And we've had a blast doing it all. This year, we have even more exciting revenue, product, and headcount goals. Without a seasoned and exceptional engineering team, we risk Retool’s success. You’ll work with Retool’s head of engineering, cross-functional stakeholders, and engineers to understand the hiring bar, but we'll look to you to drive process improvements, hiring strategy, and execution with our technical recruiting team
What you'll do
This technical recruiter will be a foundational team member, joining our small but mighty technical recruiting team. You will be responsible for growing our engineering, product, and design teams. It’s an incredible opportunity to build process from the ground up while also having an enormous impact on our culture. We have big goals this year and to get there, we need a seasoned technical recruiter to identify motivationally-aligned engineers excited to build one of Sequoia Capital’s breakout companies.
We’ll look to you to deliver best practices, source excellent and relevant talent, and grow our engineering, product, and design teams to ensure we hit our product roadmap goals. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to hire the people that build the product many of them live in every day; in fact, many Retool employees were former users. There’s incredible opportunity to build a world-class technical team here and we’ll need someone like you drive ahead while keeping the business at the heart of your decisions.
As the company grows, so will our needs. We’ll leverage your skills (and hopefully your network, too!) to grow our recruiting team. You’ll have say in who we hire and how we structure our team.
Who you'll work with
The talent team at Retool is small but extremely impactful. Recruiting has historically been a team sport, and we're proud of the recruiting-forward organization we've built. You’ll partner with the team to set goals, ensure a stellar candidate experience, and achieve our aggressive hiring targets.
We’re a erse bunch with a variety of backgrounds: some of us come from industries unrelated to tech and others have grown up on a steady diet of Bay-area companies. We’re a slightly sarcastic, dedicated, and hard-working group (who also loves plants and GIFS) and we’re looking to add folks to help us expand our culture. If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you!
And, it might be helpful to note: we expect to be back in our beautiful Hayes Valley, San Francisco office this coming fall, pending a successful continuation of vaccine rollouts!
YOUR SKILLSET
* 2+ years of full-cycle technical recruiting
* Previous startup experience* Past success in sourcing, project management, and closing* Desire to work in an ambiguous environment and excitement to provide structure* Ability to learn quickly* Desire to work with other team members, but also happy to work autonomouslyIN THIS ROLE, YOU'LL:
* Learn the history of Retool, understand the product, and learn about the health of the business.
* Develop relationships with your key stakeholders. This will include your hiring managers, cross-functional partners, and other people relevant to your role. * Learn how to use Lever, our applicant tracking system, to successfully move candidates through our pipeline and ensure data cleanliness and accuracy. * Own the full-cycle recruiting process, from our first touchpoint with candidates to closing them in partnership with our head of engineering, engineers, and peers.* Leverage your metrics to inform your activity needs, which we'll look to you to interpret and present (and manage to).* Learn our sourcing profiles and refine them as needed, all with the intent of hiring the best and brightest engineers and designers, from a variety of backgrounds.* Contribute to Retool's mission to build a erse and performant company.* Drive hiring decisions with your hiring managers. You’ll act as a sounding board and guide through our candidate debriefs post onsites and help the hiring team make a final decision.* Kickoff new-to-the-business roles, primarily within product and design. You'll own the kickoff process and agree on deliverables with hiring managers, interviewers, and so forth. You may occasionally step in to support the growing org by taking on the occasional role outside of technical hiring.* Partner with your engineering team to identify non-traditional ways to reach out to and attract candidates. * Design and deploy new programs, relationships with external organizations, and track their progress.* Help interview and hire Retool’s next recruiting hire.",
