Striveworks: Better Models, Faster
The world has looked to data analytics to bridge the gap between floods of data and the struggle to use that data effectively to make timely, impactful decisions. Today, most organizations are awash in analytics that aren’t quite right models that were developed too generally or too slowly to be effective in dynamic, fast-paced environments. Striveworks is simplifying MLOps with a powerful and extensible platform that instantiates the data analytic process as code.
Striveworks is trusted by leading Fortune 500 firms as well as leaders in the public sector as a primary solution for managing model development, monitoring, and governance and for ensuring those models solve the real challenges their organizations face.
Striveworks’ Chariot platform enables users to turn their own production data into models and turn models into production systems. Chariot uniquely supports data lineage; as you train, test, deploy, and use models, our lineage system enables you to track not only the upstream provenance of model and data sources but also the downstream usage of the resultant model inferences. Combining this with a principled experience for data and model development, Chariot gives our customers in highly regulated industries an unmatched governance solution on top of a performant MLOps platform.

AppSignal is seeking a new product developer. You'll be joining a small team of developers and designers working to enhance AppSignal and make it an even better product.
Our product assists thousands of developers in monitoring their web applications from A to Z. Our product alerts developers if something goes wrong and provides debugging insights to get to the root of issues.
AppSignal's features cover errors, performance, uptime, metrics, logging, and more. We support various programming languages (Ruby, Node.js, JavaScript, Elixir, Python, Go).
We're self-funded, profitable, 100% remote, and strive to be nice to our coworkers and customers. Read our hiring FAQ for more information on how our business operates.
The role
The product team continuously (re)developing monitoring features, improving existing features, enhancing the design and consistency, and ensuring our product operates seamlessly for users.
You'll be part of the team working on the AppSignal product. You'll write React, build pages and components, and touch some CSS (we have a design system built on TailwindCSS).
We deliver quickly, working closely with the design, business, and development teams. It's important to note that our codebase has a considerable surface area; this isn't a new product. The development challenges are interesting, and we're open to fresh patterns and ideas to enhance our application's structure.
The Tech Stack
- Our product was initially built with Ruby on Rails (knowing Rails is a plus, but not required)
- React has gradually taken its place and now covers most of our app.
- We use a GraphQL API
- We store data in MongoDB and ClickHouse.
- We've created a design system using TailwindCSS
- We employ headless React components (RadixUI, Tanstack) to create reusable components.
The rest of AppSignal employs various other technologies to handle the 200 billion+ requests our customers monitor monthly.
Our workflow and tools
AppSignal operates in 8-week cycles. The product team typically dedicates 6 weeks to one or two projects and reserves 2 weeks as a cooldown period for bug fixes, small issues, and preparing for the next cycle.
Company-wise, we use these tools for communication and project management:
- Basecamp for asynchronous communication within the company
- Github (Projects) to manage our code and technical projects
- Slack for direct messages or small group chats
- Airtable to keep track of information
We hold a company-wide call once a week, followed by your team call, and other project-related calls are kept to a minimum.
What We Offer
- Salary is dependent on experience and the hiring approach (more details in our FAQ about remote hiring
- An annual personal budget of €1,200 for additional gear, conferences, and learning
- A loaned MacBook for doing work
- Remote work from anywhere as long as you align with our timezone (CEST)
- A monthly budget for renting an office/workspace nearby
- Unlimited vacation policy (on average, employees take 35 days a year)
- No micromanagement. You're an adult. Feel free to wrap up early if your mind is tired. Hit the gym when you desire. Take care of errands, or go for a walk.
- A team of friendly iniduals to call your colleagues
- We're open to a part-time (4 day) work-week
The Application Process
- Round 1 consists of a brief interview to get acquainted and a short assignment to evaluate your programming skills. You'll receive compensation for time spent on this assignment (gift card or cash).
- Round 2 involves an interview with your future coworkers from the product team.
- Round 3 is a more in-depth interview. By this stage, we're enthusiastic about you and want to provide extensive context about the role.
- Round 4 entails a culture check with the team, in addition to finalizing the hiring details
Managing Expectations
Our hiring process is designed to be stress-free. We won't subject you to pressure or tricky questions. Let us know if you have anything we can consider (neuroersity, accessibility, etc.).
We'll communicate our thoughts on your prospects and salary range as soon as possible. We'll inform you if you're in a hiring round with 10 other candidates or just 2. We'll send a preliminary offer letter once we can gauge your seniority level. We hope for transparency from you as well.
Not sure if you should apply?
If you're unsure about having enough experience for this role, please apply! We'd be disappointed to overlook a great candidate because you doubt your abilities. We're always happy to provide you feedback on your application and skill level.
Looking Forward to Meeting You!
Our team is excited about the opportunity to meet you. Feel free to ask us any questions ([email protected]); we hope to see your application soon!
You may also reach out to one of our counselors if you feel more comfortable with that. Senior Ruby on Rails Developer (Remote)

JOB DESCRIPTION
Who are we?
BuySellAds operates the largest self-serve advertising marketplace on the web. We’re an adtech company empowering publishers and advertisers to connect more efficiently. Don’t let the adtech part scare you away: our mission is to help publishers better monetize their sites so they can spend their time focusing on what they care about (their content!) rather than selling ads. We leverage tech to help broker these sales, and attempt to distance ourselves from the shady world of advertising that existed before.
CSS-Tricks, Digg, Feedly, Axios, and more are just some of the sites who we’re able to help make more money – connecting them with advertisers like Adobe, Microsoft Azure, Slack, Digital Ocean, and Atlassian who are all able to expand their reach through us.
We are a fully distributed/remote team, with ~55 people spread out across 25 cities in 8 countries. We primarily use Rails and React, with a smattering of Go and PHP, but seek to hire developers who are language agnostic and are more interested in shipping quality code than bikeshedding it.
A sneak peek at our dev team:
- Primarily use Ruby/Rails for the API with a React setup on the frontend (SPA)
- Some Go for performance-relevant code
- Heavy Docker use, mostly hosted on AWS
- We release code every day
Who are you?
We’re looking for senior level developers to help us build out our platform. Everyone on our dev team makes meaningful contributions that positively impact our team and our customers every day – you will likely ship code on your very first day at BSA.
Ideally, we’re looking for someone who is:
- A natural problem solver: integrations can be messy work, requiring equal measures creativity and patience.
- A self-starter: remote teams carry lots of autonomy. There’s no micromanaging here.
- A great communicator: we’re big on teaching, learning, debating, and explaining, and these things require clear, deliberate communication.
- Experienced working in ad-tech
You’re likely more awesome than you think, so apply even if you only check a few of these boxes.
Interested?
Woohoo! To apply, send us a blurb about who you are and what you’re into. If you’re stuck on where to start, just focus on what you like to build, things you’ve built in the past that you’re proud of, and what you’d like to be building now.
We do our best to make the hiring process fair and straight-forward: we do an initial meet-and-greet phone screen, a live pair-coding session over Slack (our primary mode of communication), and a take-home coding test. We move quickly on decisions, and we aim to respond to every applicant and provide feedback where appropriate: even if we aren’t the right fit for each other, we want you to know rather than have to second-guess.

Time zones: EST (UTC -5), CST (UTC -6), MST (UTC -7), PST (UTC -8)
The Explanation Company (explanation.com) is hiring an experienced Rails programmer to lead our efforts in building a fast and reliable API backend that scales with our product growth.
You'll report to our CEO, a seasoned entrepreneur, engineer, and former product manager for Facebook Messenger and News Feed. We’re a remote-first, distributed team within the four time zones of the continental U.S. We also get together 2-3 times per year.
**
What You'll Do**You'll join a small, skilled engineering team in a role we hope will be a defining one in your career. You’ll take a lead role in the overall speed and reliability of a big backend built in Ruby on Rails. This powers a React Native client that includes video calling, chatting, search, and video browsing. There is a lot of surface area, but we’ve prepared for this so you aren’t stepping into a mess. You’ll have other senior engineers to collaborate with when you need a sounding board.
You'll work on a product that's already found product-market fit. Yet, the architecture needs serious upgrades for scalability. You'll design, build, and own key subsystems like queuing, video calling backend, and infrastructure failovers. We have deep experience with Rails, and we’ve prioritized creating a strong codebase and great development environment.
On the team, we have two experienced full stack engineers that know Ruby on Rails well. We don't need to add another full stack engineer focused on feature development, instead we need to add someone whose primary interest and experience is deeper in the stack. You'll be focused on things like reducing Ruby's memory footprint, tuning database configuration, load testing, setting up effective performance monitoring, digging into New Relic, and re-architecting our socket connections for better scalability.
**What You'll Bring
**- You bring deep experience in backend development. You likely have 7+ years of experience in Ruby on Rails, and you have significant experience with another language and at least one SQL database (we’re on Postgresql). You’ve gone deep on the Rails framework and understand idiomatic Rails.
- You bring experience architecting applications of significant scale. You’ve designed and supported a system with more than a hundred thousand simultaneous users. You’re good at stress testing and architecting for speed & reliability, you're excited to focus on all the challenges that come with scaling, and you’re happy to be in an on-call rotation.
- You like working in a fast-paced environment. You’ll be joining a small team that likes to ship quickly, making incremental progress forward. We merge into main a half dozen times each day with our continuous integration process running in 10 minutes.
- You’re comfortable working in a remote environment. You are strong at communicating complex thoughts in writing and value clear communication.
- You’re comfortable working in an ambiguous environment. We set clear goals as a team, but you won’t receive specs and timelines. You’ll be the one asking questions to unpack complex problems, ensuring you understand the product & business needs, and communicating your plan to solve problems.
**About Our Company
**The Explanation Company is building a browser and communications app for children who love video games. Our app helps children learn about their favorite games and connect with friends. We've reached product-market fit with thousands of active users and are quickly scaling up installations.
We’re a well-funded and ambitious startup backed by great investors. Andreessen Horowitz led our initial $9M fundraise and we assembled a nimble team of six people that are passionate about building an insanely great product for our customers. The company was founded by experienced entrepreneurs. Our founders sold their previous companies after reaching millions of children.
**
Compensation & Benefits**The expected salary range is between $165,000 and $220,000. In addition, you would receive competitive equity as part of your compensation. We also offer health insurance, vacation, travel to team meetups, and computer equipment. But most important of all, we’re focused on ensuring the best perk of the job is the caliber of colleagues you get to work with and the problems you get to tackle.
