**The role:

As our new Senior PHP Developer, you will join an amazing team who is dedicated to taking the next step in software engineering. You will make key decisions on software processes, and use Kubernetes and Terraform on PHP, Go, React & Angular on AWS. The team will keep you up-to-date with the latest technology stacks and processes and help you see challenging projects from beginning to end.

**The main responsibilities of the role include:

●        Design and implement new features/projects

●        Maintain and refactor existing web applications such as the company's website, registration forms, Members Area and internal web services

●        Research and integrate new web technologies

●        Write tests that will run on a continuous integration server 24/7 to ensure code testability, code coverage and quality conforms to the company’s highest standards

●        Resolve support tickets for IT related issues

**Main requirements:

●        BSc/MSc in information technology or any other relevant degree

●        At least 3 years of experience in a similar position

●        Very good knowledge of PHP 7+, MySQL, Redis, Git

●        Very good understanding of object-oriented programming principles

●        Experience in creating and consuming web services

●        Experience with modern PHP frameworks

●        Experience in writing tests with PHPUnit

●        Ability to research and adapt new web technologies that add value to the team

●        Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise

●        Problem solving and analytical skills

●        Ability to work independently and integrate well within a team

**The following will be considered an advantage:

●        Experience in Symfony framework

●        Experience in the development of REST APIs

●        Experience in software development practices like design patterns, SOLID principles, DRY

●        Very good understanding of security practices (OWASP)

• Develop and implement backend services using PHP 8+ and Laravel 9+, ensuring code quality, performance, and security.
• Utilise Kafka (or similar technologies) to design and implement event-driven systems for real-time data processing and communication between micro-services.
• Employ strong Git practices, such as trunk-based development, and implement CI/CD pipelines to ensure efficient and reliable code deployment workflows.
• Optimise database performance and scalability using MySQL and Redis for caching and data storage.
• Work in close collaboration with frontend developers, designers, and product managers to deliver end-to-end features and enhancements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable backend solutions for our platform.
• Provide mentorship, code reviews, and technical guidance to junior team members to ensure high coding standards and nurture their professional growth.

• BSc/MSc in computer science or any other relevant degree.
• At least 4-5 years of experience in a similar position.
• Extensive experience in backend development using PHP 8+ and Laravel 9+, with a deep understanding of Laravel's advanced concepts such as service providers, Passport/Sanctum, Eloquent ORM, Queues, Scheduler, and more.
• Proven experience in building and maintaining backend services, ensuring scalability, fault tolerance, and efficient communication between services.
• Knowledge of object-oriented programming principles and design patterns and concepts such as dependency injection, KISS, DRY, and YAGNI.
• Experience with code quality tools like Psalm, PHPStan, and Laravel Pint.
• Experience in writing tests using PHPUnit or Pest, and appreciation for TDD.
• Strong familiarity with event-driven architectures and technologies like Kafka, gRPC, or similar messaging systems.
• Proficiency in VCS, particularly Git, and hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Solid understanding of relational databases, particularly MySQL and PostgreSQL, and caching mechanisms using Redis.

• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of cloud technologies, ideally AWS, and infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform.
• Frontend skills in Angular or VueJS for effective collaboration with frontend teams.
• Knowledge of building responsive and visually appealing user interfaces.
• Experience in Go programming language for additional versatility in backend development.
• Experience with ClickHouse or similar columnar databases for optimized storage and analytical processing.
• Experience with tools such as NewRelic, Zabbix, and Sentry for monitoring infrastructure and tracking errors.

About The Role

Pagoda Solutions team is looking for a senior software engineer to work on ecosystem critical features and solutions. You will be working through the whole range of NEAR Protocol stack to find opportunities for critical improvements and features that have a huge impact on the growth of the ecosystem. You will work on different parts of the stack including low-level code, protocol features, infrastructure that will create new products directly on protocol level while having a view on products that are being built on NEAR Protocol.

You will be expected to fully own various components and drive their implementation from beginning to end, including the design, the implementation, the maintenance, and the documentation. You will be surrounded by highly productive and meticulous engineers who will be holding you to the same standards.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Discover ecosystem critical feature needs, design and implement them;
• Work with internal and external product managers, technical stakeholders to gather feedback and work with internal teams to deliver product/protocol improvements.
• Work with the multitude of teams to implement features that are important to the success of external and internal stakeholders;
• Keep a close eye on innovations on web3 space, gather insights and implement critical features to enable web3 developers on NEAR Protocol.
• Communication and collaboration with a fully distributed team.

What We’re Looking For

• Ability to quickly learn and grasp complex engineering concepts; we expect you to obtain a very good understanding of the NEAR protocol, and several ETH L2 technologies;
• Experience or ability to work with systems-level languages, Rust is preferred, but Go and C would also be eligible;
• You should be a great communicator and remain calm under pressure or when juggling multiple priorities;
• Being comfortable with ing into multiple parts of a technology stack and quickly navigating through it;
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related fields is a must

We’d Love If You Have

• Familiarity with cryptography
• An understanding of rollups and layer 2 technologies
• Familiarity with distributed systems and p2p networks
• Experience working at a startup;
• Prior experience with blockchain technologies

Compensation

The base salary range for this role is $165,750 – $195,000. This reflects the minimum and maximum range across all US locations. This does not include bonus, incentives, or benefits.

The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: leveling, relevant skills, and work location. If you are based outside of the US, there are other geographic considerations that may impact your final compensation. Your recruiter can share more about the compensation and benefits applicable to your preferred location during the hiring process.
