Rails Backend Developer (Full-time, Remote)
We’re seeking a full-time, remote Rails backend developer in Europe or on the US east coast.
About the Work
- You’ll be the sole Ruby on Rails developer.

About You
We're looking for a full-time Engineering Manager to join our core Product & Engineering Team who has significant experience building, managing, and monitoring backend services at scale. Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience with:
- Writing HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. It is required to be up to date on the latest practices, including HTML5, CSS3, and ECMAScript 6 (minimum)
- Relevant backend programming language (ideally Javascript or PHP)
- Solid understanding, and experience working with either Shopify or WooCommerce (ideally both), including knowledge of their APIs, as well as, themes and plugin/app development.

Our stack is Ethereum-like, so familiarity with – and passion for – the space is key.
Some of the areas we tackle include blockchain infrastructure optimized for financial use-cases, protocols for specific applications (such as smart contract-based derivatives, synthetic assets, cryptocurrency stabilization, …), scalability and privacy through cryptography (zkSNARKs, multiparty computation, private transactions/assets).
Responsibilities
As a data engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, testing and maintaining scalable data pipelines that bring together data from an array of sources.
To achieve this, you will need to consolidate, cleanse, and structure the data, as well as maintain the automated scripts, data pipelines, and databases that comprise the data platform.
This data provides researchers with insights into blockchain protocols to enable them to perform analytical work. It also drives public and internal dashboards and reports.
About you
You like to build robust, scalable, maintainable, and well-documented data pipelines.
You are passionate about blockchain and are comfortable working with large datasets.
You have exquisite attention to detail and a strong appreciation for data integrity and correctness.
Requirements
- A background in Computer Science and Data Science
- Experience administering relational databases (Snowflake, PostgreSQL)
- Experience designing and maintaining data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes
- Experience developing custom data connectors
- Fluency in Python programming to intermediate level
- A good understanding of the Ethereum protocol
- Proficiency in SQL, GraphQL, and query optimization
- Good knowledge of Unix shell scripting and commandline tools
- Familiarity with cloud services (e.g. AWS EC2/S3, Google Cloud)
- Excellent verbal and written English skills
Bonus points
- Proficiency with Python scientific computing (NumPy, Pandas, Jupyter)
- Experience with managing and processing financial market timeseries data

We are looking for an experienced Principal Engineer to own and drive important high-level design and architecture across our distributed platform. As a Principal Engineer, you will collaborate actively with our product leaders and leadership team to understand high-level product needs over an extended timeframe, map out platform services, make framework decisions, and have influence across the entire Chainlink stack to drive massive impact in the blockchain industry.
Your Impact
- Architect our next-generation platform to extend our node from delivering external data and on-chain services to enabling trust-minimized distributed computation for a wide variety of smart contract applications.
- Architect and design components/service layers to sustainability scale as the number of blockchains integrations we support grows significantly.
- Work directly with leadership to take into account all product vectors and define our high-level technical roadmap to scale across multiple dimensions of blockchain integrations, applications, payment flexibility, and engineering operations as we grow.
- Collaborate with engineers, technical leaders and product managers across multiple teams to achieve consensus for technical decisions, concepts and guidelines.
- Actively participate in leveling the team’s engineering bar, increasing the velocity of the team and the reliability/security of the product through coaching and utilization of frameworks, etc.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional engineering experience working in a collaborative product-driven environment.
- Successful experience designing, building and scaling multiple production services, components and infrastructure.
- Successful experience collaborating with a team to support production services over multiple years as they evolved to scale with user demand and challenges.
- Deep knowledge of programming languages, tools and frameworks required to successfully build and deploy production services, with prior experience selecting these tools and frameworks.
- Experience owning multiple, months-long projects, including communication of progress, dependencies, and risk mitigation directly with stakeholders and partners.
